Merchant (3)

He had to come up with an answer right away. He couldn't miss this opportunity.

Whatever Luke took on in life, it would eventually turn into a job that would take him to the top of the ladder, both socially and financially.

So there was no way that a deal Luke would offer could harm anyone. Well, there was, but Luke wasn't that kind of person.

"You don't trust my words, do you?" Luke asked suddenly, noticing the expression on the merchant Elvis's face.

Elvis noticed his palm start to sweat the moment he heard the question. Even if Luke wasn't that kind of person, Elvis thought his head would roll at the slightest wrong word.

"I'd rather not say, Your Majesty," Elvis replied.

Luke reached into his inventory and pulled out a large parchment measuring fifty centimetres long and thirty centimetres wide. Luke had thought long and hard about the name of the town, and during the full moon in the middle of last month, when it was shining brightly in the sky and casting its light over the region, he had finally come up with a name.

[Selene]

This name had been chosen for the village, the town, and the region that would one day become a city.

In this case, the terms of the agreement Luke would write on the parchment would take place under this regional name.

[Selene Town and Elvis Dust Cooperation Agreement

1- Under this agreement, Party A, namely Luke Ibn Alphonsine Hiera, is obliged to grant Party B, namely Elvis Dust, a property within the current Selene Town and future Selene City. The property shall be considered a merchant's house and shall be located within a three-street area to be established around the central region. The minimum size of the property shall be 100 square meters, and the maximum size shall be determined by Party A.

2- Party A, namely Luke Ibn Alphonsine Hiera, who is offering this agreement, will reduce the tax collected from Party B, namely Elvis Dust, on the main mansion located within the region and on each purchase made within the region by 10%. This will not affect sales transactions.

3- Under this agreement, Party A, namely Luke Ibn Alphonsine Hiera, will grant Party B, namely Elvis Dust, a hunting permit within the region. This permit will only be active during the periods approved by Party A.

3- Party B, Elvis Dust, who accepts this agreement, will promise Party A, Luke Ibn Alphonsine Hiera, that taxes will be paid on time, depending on the situation in the region (at the end of the month or the beginning of the year).

4- Under this agreement, Party B, Elvis Dust, will assist Party A, Luke Ibn Alphonsine Hiera, in promoting the name of Selene Village, which is Party A's territory.

5- This agreement shall remain in effect until the date of death, provided about Party B, Elvis Dust, does not breach any of the terms of the agreement and accepts the options provided to him and fulfils his duties. Luke Ibn Alphonsine Hiera himself shall protect Elvis Dust's existing or potential family members upon his death.

Party B Signature:]

Luke filled the large parchment from top to bottom in just ten minutes of silence, then signed the agreement and handed the parchment and pen to Elvis.

Elvis took the parchment containing the agreement in his hand and read what was written on it, looking back and forth between Luke and the parchment repeatedly, as if he couldn't believe his eyes.

Immediately afterwards, he took the pen directly into his hand and signed it in a matter of seconds.

Luke smiled and then put the agreement into his inventory, saying, "I will try to cover this agreement with the blessing of the God of Trust, Sancus, later on. Even if Sancus refuses this request, I swear on my life that I will fulfil my part of the agreement."

Then, without even thinking of getting up from his chair, he pointed to the snacks with his hand and added, "You can stay in town as long as you like; we have many more conversations to have."

Elvis nodded gently and said, "Thank you, Your Majesty," then began to eat the snacks in front of him with grace.

The two talked for exactly three hours from that moment on. There were no magical beasts that couldn't be found in the north. While encountering a dragon might be nearly impossible, there was no guarantee that even a wyvern wouldn't suddenly appear and try to leap into the town at any moment.

For this reason, the two had discussed the types and numbers of magical beasts that would be sold.

A list had been compiled. Of course, the task of finding and hunting the magical beasts on the list fell to Callum and the elves he had already begun to select.

Meanwhile, merchant Elvis had decided to stay at one of the inns set up in the town to rest from his journey, while Luke continued working at full speed on the road construction within the town to keep up with his daily tasks.

Just an hour later, the road construction was completely finished. There were massive roads leading to almost all of the current areas within the town.

Of course, this also caused some houses to change locations, or rather, to be moved for aesthetic purposes.

Over two hundred elf houses were now facing each other instead of being side by side in a large area.

Along the sides of the massive six-meter-wide road, houses made of high-quality white wood and stone, both two-story and single-story, had transformed.

The town's appearance had truly become beautiful, and with that, the day's work was completely finished. Now, he could go back to his home.

As Luke walked toward the mansion, he saw some elves pulling carts with their hands. The carts were filled with kilograms of seafood such as fish and octopus.
