Chapter 44: The Final Wake

The sunrise brought no peace.

Mira stood in the garden, bare feet on dew-soaked grass, listening. She could feel it in the air — the heaviness of a storm not yet seen, but already here.

Somewhere out there, the ones Naira had spoken of… were coming.

And this time, they weren't sending messages.

They were sending death.

Rehan returned by noon, his face grim.

"They've breached the outer watchposts," he said. "Two of our informants are missing. The name that keeps surfacing is 'Kavir'."

Aarav tensed. "He was declared dead years ago."

Rehan shook his head. "No. He faked it. And now, he's coming for Mira."

Mira didn't flinch. "Then we stop him."

Aarav looked at her, pain behind his eyes. "Mira… you're the reason they're coming. You're the key."

"I know."

"Then run."

"No."

That night, Mira wrote a message. She handed it to Rehan.

"If I don't make it through tomorrow, give this to Aarav."

Rehan hesitated. "Are you planning something?"

She smiled sadly. "I'm ending something."

The enemy arrived at dawn.

A convoy. Quiet. Calculated.

Mira stood alone at the front of the estate, her cane planted firmly into the dirt. Aarav wanted to stop her — but he knew.

This was her fight now.

From the lead vehicle stepped a man in black — cold-eyed, cruel-smiled.

"Kavir," she whispered.

"You don't look like much," he said. "All this chaos… for a blind girl."

"I may be blind," Mira said calmly, "but I see right through you."

She reached into her coat and clicked a small trigger Rehan gave her. Behind her, hidden drones locked onto the convoy.

"This ends today."

Kavir laughed. "You won't shoot."

"No," she said, voice steel. "But they will."

The estate erupted in chaos.

A gunfight. Explosions. Mira, pulled to safety by Aarav, was bleeding from her arm but alive.

Rehan captured Kavir in the end, battered and bruised, but breathing. The war was over.

But Mira…

She was no longer the same girl.

She had stepped into the dark — and walked out stronger.

Now, all that remained was goodbye.
