The cave was damp and silent, save for the soft sound of breathing.
Do-Yoon knelt in meditation posture, sweat trickling down his brow as he circulated his energy. His breath trembled. His hands clenched.
Across from him, Jin Seo-Won stood with arms crossed, watching silently.
> "Too slow," he said coldly.
"Again."
Do-Yoon gritted his teeth and tried once more, focusing on the breathing method that had been imprinted directly into his body by the system.
Each breath stirred something within him—strength, pain, and memory.
> "This technique…" he thought, "It's like a monster clawing at my insides."
---
Hours passed. Then—breakthrough.
A faint pulse of qi rippled outward.
Seo-Won raised an eyebrow.
> "You've finally touched the first threshold," he muttered.
"Barely."
Do-Yoon collapsed, gasping. But his eyes glowed faintly. He had done it.
Seo-Won turned away.
> "Rest. Tomorrow, you'll use it in real combat."
Do-Yoon looked up, his voice trembling.
> "Thank you, Pangeran Keempat… I—"
> "Don't thank me. Grow stronger."
Seo-Won walked out of the cave, his footsteps echoing.
> "If you can't survive, then you're useless to me."
"But… if you live—then prove your worth."
---
Meanwhile, within the elder pavilion…
A scroll floated midair, surrounded by golden talismans and burning incense.
The Guardian, Baek Ho-Gun, stood alone. His eyes scanned the scroll—a record of the breathing technique Seo-Won had just passed on.
> "He unlocked that method… without guidance?"
Baek Ho-Gun's lips curled slightly.
> "So the system has finally begun to awaken."
---
Back at the central academy, murmurs filled the halls.
> "Did you hear? That peasant-born prince took in a disciple?"
"Some kid from the outer clans. Weak as hell."
> "He'll embarrass himself."
Jin Seo-Jin, watching from the balcony, scoffed.
> "Trash breeds more trash."
But Jin Seo-Gi of the Poison Clan only chuckled lazily.
> "Let him play. The fall will be more entertaining."
---
Night fell. Seo-Won sat atop the stone wall overlooking the training field.
Wind stirred his long hair.
> "The academy… the sect… this entire structure…"
"It's always been built to crush those without backing."
He clenched his fist.
> "This time, I'll destroy that system from the inside."
His eyes turned to the moon—cold, unreadable, and sharp.
> "And I'll start by proving that even a lowborn bastard… can become the nightmare of his noble brothers."
