Vault of the First Sin

The roots spiraled down like a serpent of wood and memory, coiling into the unseen depths of Verdantia's soul.

Each step Priyanshu took down the staircase was met with a dull hum—a sound not of nature but of ancient machinery buried within the tree's bones. The Tree of Memory was more than sacred flora; it was a living construct, built not only to remember but to protect.

He was descending into the very thing it had been guarding for thirty thousand years.

Finally, the staircase ended.

Before him stood a vast cavern, walls glowing faintly with runes that shimmered in ancient Elven script. In the center was a floating monolith—cracked, but still pulsing with life.

Around it stood eight stone thrones, empty yet terrifying. Each throne bore a symbol of an ancient force:

War

Plague

Desire

Silence

Chaos

Time

Memory

Sin

And beneath them all, in the center of the floor, lay a circular platform locked with a soul-seal—eight chained anchors radiating from it, glowing like captured stars.

"Luna," Priyanshu whispered.

His shadow flickered, and Luna emerged beside him from the Loyal Dog Shadow Gate.

"My Lord."

He nodded toward the platform. "The vault lies beneath that. It contains a part of Verdantia's oldest shame. The truth even the gods buried."

Luna stepped forward, careful. "You intend to break it open?"

"No," he smiled. "I intend to let it open itself to me."

Priyanshu bit his thumb and pressed it to the central seal.

Blood touched the runes.

The temperature dropped instantly. All sound vanished—no echoes, no breath, no pulse.

The cavern shuddered.

And then...

The thrones began to speak.

Not with voices—but with memories.

Images flashed in his mind: warfields strewn with bones... a goddess weeping while devouring her child... lovers chained in endless desire... timelines collapsing... a tree birthed from a dead god's heart...

The First Sin was not a mistake—it was a choice.

The Elves had taken something forbidden. Something meant to never be touched. They had caged it beneath the Tree, turning their shame into sacredness.

And now, Priyanshu was waking it.

Cracks formed in the soul-seal.

Black light poured from them like liquid night. The air stank of sulfur, ink, and forgotten screams.

Luna fell to one knee, her body trembling.

"My Lord... this power... it's not Elven. It's older."

"It's from before the Elves. Before even gods."

The seal shattered.

A pillar of dark light shot up through the cavern roof, piercing the tree above, reaching into the skies of Verdantia.

All across the city, people stopped and looked up.

The Tree of Memory—already bleeding—now wailed.

A scream so ancient and full of agony that the stars above flickered.

Priyanshu stood at the edge of the broken vault.

He stared down into the abyss—where tendrils of black vines curled upward like fingers begging to be touched.

"I do," he whispered.

He stepped forward—and vanished into the darkness.

Above, the Tree of Memory began to collapse.

Not physically—but spiritually.

The connection between it and the Elven Ancestors snapped one by one. Memory faded. Names were lost. Bloodlines forgotten.

And in the center of Verdantia, a new flower bloomed at the base of the Tree.

It was black.

It pulsed.

It smiled.
