Chapter 31: Change of Plans

With a loud 'thud,' Wise landed securely on the roof of the train.

[Gently, Master. Your bottom just slammed heavily onto the roof.]

"You don't have to tell me, I know. But whose fault is it that this body's limbs are so short?" Wise stretched his short little limbs and then began to walk along the roof step by step. But just then, Fairy spoke again.

[Don't be discouraged. Your blood relative once praised this form of yours. Quoting the original words: 'Small is also cute.']

"Oh, thanks a lot!"

[You're welcome, my dear Master.]

Wise felt very helpless about Fairy's words, but he didn't want to argue with an artificial intelligence. So, after finding an air vent on the roof of the train, he prepared to go in.

"The air vent on the roof of this train is so small that even Koma, who is practically a liquid, couldn't squeeze through. But for you, it's as simple as a skilled ninja cutting a watermelon."

"What a strange analogy... Never mind. Now I just need to go to the driver's cabin and activate the shutdown button."

After squeezing through the air vent, Wise landed easily inside the train. After steadying himself, he heard the clanking of metal around him. It sounded like a group of people handling firearms, and that was indeed the case.

Wise looked up and saw a group of people in Public Security Bureau uniforms, pointing the black muzzles of their guns at him. "Ah, this... So there wasn't just a bomb on this train?"

Hearing the group of people opposite him seemingly receive an order to open fire, Wise had no choice but to make a move. His small and springy body leaped up and easily knocked down the enemy closest to him. At the same time, with a crisp crack, the train's window was suddenly shattered. It was Koma, who had kicked the glass and broken in from the outside.

Wise had originally wanted to cooperate with her to knock out all these people, but caught off guard, he was thrown out of the window by Koma.

"You go back first! Leave this to me! I have the 'radish'! We'll meet at the store later!"

That was all Wise had time to hear from Koma before the train had already sped far away. It was impossible to catch up at this speed with the Bangboo's short legs, unless Wise chose to put all his attribute points into speed at this moment. But since Koma had said so, Wise could only choose to trust her and then manipulated Eous to leave the Hollow first.

Back at the video store, Belle was the first to ask about Wise's physical condition, and then she checked on Eous's condition.

"Regarding the delay in the demolition, Vista's official response to the public was due to technical issues. It seems there's something fishy going on after all."

"Mmm, you're right, brother. Vista clearly said that the train was an unmanned vehicle transporting explosives, but it was full of heavily armed soldiers."

"Although those guys were wearing Public Security Bureau uniforms, it wasn't hard to tell from their words that they weren't actually from the Public Security Bureau."

The siblings analyzed the current situation back and forth. Just then, Wise yawned, feeling a bit tired. Seeing this, Belle spoke with some heartache. "Brother, why don't you go back to your room and rest for a bit? Connecting with a Bangboo is very mentally taxing. Don't force yourself if you feel tired. I'll wake you up if anything happens."

Wise nodded at her words. "Mmm. Koma is clearly hiding something from us too. We'll ask her clearly when she gets back." After saying this, Wise went back to his room. After washing up a bit, he went to bed for a short nap.

A long time later, he was woken up again by the ringing of his phone. He picked it up and saw that the person who had sent him a message was Koma. However, what was sent was a string of garbled text. It was completely incomprehensible and didn't look like a secret code or anything. It was just like a cat's paw pads had been pressed randomly on a keyboard.

"How's the situation? Are you okay?" Wise asked with some concern. After all, she was a rare little cat girl. Fortunately, she quickly replied to him.

"I'm back, I'm back! I'm finally almost at Sixth Street! I'm so sorry for making you worry. Anyway, I'll be at the video store in a bit. See you then."

"Mmm, okay. We'll be waiting for you." After replying, Wise went downstairs to tell Belle about it, and then the two of them waited for her arrival together.

Not long after, in the video store, Koma once again flew through the door. And by an incredible coincidence, she once again crashed into Wise's arms just like last time. Seeing this, Wise had to resist the urge to touch her ears and then waited for Koma to get up on her own. Fortunately, there were no customers in the video store at this time. Otherwise, if this scene were to be seen...

"Meow! I'm back! huff... huff... I'm so sorry, it took a little longer. I could only locate a relatively distant exit." Koma got up with a red face, and then, as if she had remembered something, she spoke again anxiously. "Oh, right! I saw the news on my phone. Although the demolition was delayed, those guys still drove the train away, so Nicole and her team's crisis isn't over yet. What should we do now? We have to think of the next plan immediately..."

Koma said all this very quickly, while Wise spoke in a relatively calm tone. "Koma, I understand you're anxious, and I also want to save Nicole and her team. But before that, we need to talk."

"Whoa?! Why the sudden change in tone? The fur on my ears is about to stand on end!"

"Koma, there's something important we hope you can clarify. What kind of trouble have you and the Cunning Hares really gotten into?"

"Th-this..."

Under the questioning of the siblings, Koma looked a bit aggrieved, but then she answered seriously. "Um, I really didn't mean to hide anything. I didn't know there were people on the train. And you're right, the Cunning Hares and I really did get into big trouble this time, but we were trying to save someone!"

Hearing Koma's words, the siblings were a bit surprised. They didn't expect someone else to be involved in this matter. Then, at Koma's request, they chose to continue watching the rest of the Bangboo's visual records.

The three of them then went back to the computer, and Fairy once again pulled up the previous records. This time, the scene showed the situation after the Cunning Hares and Koma had entered the Dead End Hollow. During the search, Koma saw a little girl. Although Nicole and the others in the video didn't see her, the Bangboo's visual records did show her. However, in the end, the Cunning Hares still took the initiative to help Koma find that little girl. It was just a coincidence that along the way, only Koma saw the figure of the little girl.
