"What's going on?! Why do I feel a Saiyan aura coming from Uncle Krillin?!"
Son Gohan's voice rang out, loud and filled with disbelief. His shocked reaction instantly drew the attention of everyone nearby.
Vegeta and the others looked over at Gohan with understanding expressions.
They got it—his surprise made sense.
After all, if they hadn't joined the Cosmic Thug Group themselves, they too would have been just as stunned to see Krillin suddenly radiate Saiyan energy.
But now that they were already familiar with the group and the process, they remained calm, their expressions relaxed.
Gohan looked around.
"Dad, Uncle Piccolo, Uncle Vegeta... why aren't you guys surprised at all?!"
He glanced at each of them in turn—his father, Piccolo, Vegeta—all seemingly unaffected by what had just happened. Only Yamcha and Android 18 looked as confused and shocked as he felt.
Everyone else? Calm. As if this was expected.
Even Bulma, Videl, and a few others looked unbothered, though Gohan knew they couldn't sense energy like the fighters could. So, their calmness didn't count.
And then it hit him.
Based on everything he'd seen, and what his father had said earlier…
They already knew.
"You all knew Uncle Krillin was going to do this, didn't you?"
Goku nodded, rubbing the back of his head.
"Well, not too long ago. We only found out recently that Krillin was going to fuse with Saiyan blood."
Gohan frowned.
"Dad, what the heck is going on? How can Uncle Krillin, an Earthling, have Saiyan blood?!"
"As I said earlier, Krillin got access to the Saiyan bloodline. Just now, he fused with it."
Goku said it so casually, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
Gohan nearly lost it.
How could his father say something so earth-shattering with a straight face? Gaining a new bloodline? Fusing with Saiyan DNA?
This wasn't normal—it was insane!
"Wukong," Piccolo spoke up, stepping in before Gohan could explode, "you need to remember—Gohan never joined the Thug Group. He doesn't know how things work there."
"The Thug Group?" Gohan blinked. "What's that?"
That question caused a moment of silence.
Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and the others glanced at each other awkwardly. They weren't sure how much they were allowed to reveal.
They hadn't been told if the existence of the group was a secret or not.
Goku frowned and decided to ask the only person who could answer such a question.
Goku (in the group chat): "@Group Leader Jack, Lord Jack, can I tell my son Gohan about the Thug Group?"
Jack responded quickly.
Jack: "Yes, of course. The purpose of the Thug Group is to help people from our world become stronger together. There's no need to keep it a secret."
Unlike the mysterious chat groups in some fantasy stories—where only one person per world joins and secrecy is a must—the Cosmic Thug Group was different.
Everyone in it came from the same world: the Dragon Ball universe.
So, secrecy wasn't necessary. There was nothing to hide.
Goku: "Alright, got it!"
Now that he had permission, Goku turned to his son and began explaining everything about the Thug Group.
He described how the group allowed its members to take on missions, travel to other worlds, earn points, buy items, and even change bloodlines. He told Gohan about the mysterious store, the ranking system, and the way completing tasks could lead to massive power upgrades.
As Goku talked, Gohan's mouth slowly fell open.
Yamcha and the others who weren't part of the group were just as stunned.
"Wait, wait, wait," Yamcha stuttered. "You're saying… you can go to other worlds? Buy power-ups? New techniques? Even change your entire bloodline?!"
Goku nodded enthusiastically. "Yup! And that's how Krillin got the Saiyan bloodline."
"No wonder you guys were acting weird earlier!" Yamcha said, eyes wide. "Man, I thought I was going crazy…"
After hearing all this, things started to make sense for Gohan. The strange behavior, the sudden bursts of new power, the calm expressions—he finally understood the why.
Still, something bothered him.
"But wait... Krillin, Tien, even Master Roshi joined the Thug Group... but Yamcha and I didn't?"
Yamcha echoed the same thought. "Yeah! That's been bugging me too. I mean, I get Goku, Vegeta, and Beerus being in it. They're always chasing strength. But I'm not chopped liver, you know! Even Roshi joined in!"
Gohan, however, was much calmer.
For him, joining the Thug Group wasn't exactly enticing.
He had a family now. A wife. A daughter. A quiet life as a scholar.
He wasn't really the type to go running off into battles in other worlds anymore. Even if he did join the group, it's not like he'd be able to take on many missions. That would be unfair to others who did want to grow stronger.
Still, he couldn't deny a little curiosity.
Other worlds, new techniques… It did sound fascinating.
Piccolo nodded as he watched Gohan process everything.
"Gohan didn't join because he's focused on his family now. He's not really into fighting or training anymore," Piccolo said calmly. "So it wouldn't have made sense to give him a slot."
"But as for you, Yamcha…" Piccolo trailed off, shrugging. "No idea."
That earned a few chuckles.
It was true. Even they didn't know why some people were selected while others weren't.
Only Jack, the group leader, understood how selections were made.
And none of them dared question him.
After all, he was the one providing them with all these amazing opportunities. If Jack decided someone didn't fit, there had to be a reason.
Yamcha, though still a bit dejected, wasn't ready to give up.
"Well… maybe I'll get in later," he said with hopeful eyes. "I still want to join."
Back near the edge of the yacht, Gohan looked at Krillin again, now glowing with a faint golden light. The energy coming off him was pure Saiyan.
"So, Uncle Krillin got the Saiyan blood as a reward for completing a mission, right?" Gohan asked, still trying to make sense of it.
Krillin nodded, smiling confidently.
"Yup. I earned enough points and completed a couple of high-level missions. That gave me the chance to exchange for the Saiyan bloodline."
Gohan tilted his head.
"So... you're a Saiyan now?"
Krillin laughed. "Well, not exactly. I still have my Earthling body, but genetically, I now have Saiyan traits. It's like I've become a hybrid. Kind of like you, Gohan."
That answer stunned Gohan again.
He stared at Krillin—his short, bald-headed, longtime friend—and for the first time, truly sensed the change.
Krillin's ki felt wild now. Fierce. Like a beast waiting to be unleashed.
Gohan's heart skipped a beat.
Despite everything, despite all his decisions to stay away from combat, a part of him longed to feel that kind of strength again.
"I... I still can't believe it," he murmured.
Even though he understood the logic, seeing it was another thing entirely.
It was one thing to hear about someone gaining Saiyan power.
It was something else entirely to witness an Earthling erupt with Saiyan energy before your eyes.

The party on the yacht slowly resumed, but a new energy buzzed through the crowd.
Everyone looked at Krillin with fresh eyes.
Some were in awe. Others were curious. A few were even a little jealous.
But Krillin didn't gloat. He stayed humble, offering to spar, answer questions, and explain more about the Thug Group.
He knew that his path to this point hadn't been easy—and that this was only the beginning.
Vegeta stood quietly in the corner, arms crossed, watching.
"Hmph. Let's see how far you'll go, Krillin
