"The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world."
— John 1:9
Part I – Lucas and the Impossible Mission
Lucas Kane moved through an abandoned building at the docks. He wasn't alone. Rebecca watched from a nearby rooftop, covering him with a long-range rifle.
"See anything?" Lucas asked over commas.
"Only shadows," she replied. "And you're the main target."
A nighttime raid on one of Lorenzo Marquez's most wanted men had led them to crucial intelligence — a coded list of key contacts, including locations where underage girls were being hidden.
But it came at a cost.
The mafia now knew they were after them.
Suddenly, a sound broke the silence.
Footsteps. Many.
"We're surrounded!" another officer shouted through the radio. "Back-up isn't coming!"
Lucas drew his pistol. Took a deep breath.
"Then we survive on our own."
Rebecca fired first. A guard dropped before he even touched the ground.
The others attacked.
Lucas charged forward. Bashed one with the butt of his gun. Disarmed another. Slammed him against the wall.
It was brutal. Fast. Clean.
When it was over, both were injured… but alive.
And they had what they came for.
One name:
San Mateo
Not just an orphanage. A place. An abandoned chapel.
Where Lorenzo Marquez made secret deals.
Part II – The Doubt That Begins
That night, in the church, Samuel reviewed the notes left behind by Nicolás Reyes before his death. Someone knew who The Pastor really was…
And that someone was still out there.
Mateo entered slowly.
"Pastor," he said, "do you believe God forgives those who kill?"
Samuel met his eyes.
"If you kill for justice… yes.
If you kill out of rage… no."
Mateo swallowed hard.
"What if you don't know which one drives you?"
Samuel shut the Bible.
"That is the first step toward losing your soul."
A heavy silence followed.
"I've been tracking Lorenzo Marquez," Mateo confessed. "I think I know where he goes."
A chill ran through Samuel.
"How did you find it?"
"Because I watch. Because I listen. Because I'm not just a disciple any more."
Samuel studied him.
"Don't act alone, son. You're not ready."
Mateo didn't answer. He only turned and walked out.
He already knew he couldn't wait any longer.
Part III – The Burning Investigation
The next day, Lucas and Rebecca analysed the stolen documents.
"This isn't random," Lucas said, pointing at a map. "This route leads straight to San Mateo. It's a religious site… and a criminal one."
Rebecca flipped through photos of missing girls.
"These faces…" she muttered. "They're not in any police records. Like they never existed."
Lucas clenched his fists.
"We have to get there before it's too late."
They decided to go undercover as a journalist and local detective. False identities. Fake credentials.
"We're here as part of a Christian foundation mission," Lucas said. "If anyone asks."
Rebecca nodded.
"If only that were true."
Part IV – The Sermon That Burns
During Sunday service, Samuel preached before a faithful crowd.
"Brothers and sisters," he said, "today we speak of hidden truth. Of how evil often wears the mask of good. And how good sometimes must wear the face of war."
His eyes locked on Mateo, sitting in the front row.
He looked different.
Darker.
Colder.
"The Lord calls us to serve. To love. To forgive."
He paused. Looked directly at Mateo.
"But some choose to punish instead.
And in doing so… they lose themselves."
Mateo didn't look away.
Didn't blink.
Part V – The Forbidden Path
That same night, Mateo left alone.
Maps. Small weapons. Open Bible. Clear decision:
He was going to San Mateo .
Alone.
To see how close he could get to Lorenzo.
Not to kill him… yet.
Just to meet him.
To see the man who destroyed his mentor.
He walked under the rain. Got into his car. Drove north.
What he didn't know was this:
Someone was following him.
From the shadows, Samuel Book watched.
"Don't let him be the one who chooses your path, son," he whispered.
"Because once you cross… there's no turning back."
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
