The road leading to Jae-hyun's house was already familiar to Dae-jin. Even though, he had only delivered there once before - but it was definitely a night to remember.
Still, this time, deep down, he quietly hoped there wouldn't be any more surprises.
They didn't talk much on the way, but even in the silence, Dae-jin could feel the tension radiating from Jae-hyun's body language. What felt strange coming from him because why would someone like him, who has so much confidence naturally, have any reason to be nervous?
The evening had turned noticeably cooler the closer they got. The neighborhood was calm – almost eerily so – with barely a soul in sight, only the dim glow of the streetlights casting soft pools of light on the pavement.
Dae-jin felt surprisingly at ease. He'd always liked walking alone, whether late at night or early in the morning. There was something peaceful about it.
As he inhaled the crisp night air, he felt his mind starting to clear. The exhaustion that had weighed on him all day slowly began to lift.
He barely even noticed how close they'd been walking – not until he felt Jae-hyun's hand gently brush against his, just for a moment.
Dae-jin was surprised but he didn't pull his hand right away.
He'd been in a relationship before, sure, but that was more of a school crush than anything serious. It had been a long time since he'd felt the touch of another person like that. He didn't want Jae-hyun to sense anything, so he did the first thing that came to mind – started humming a random tune under his breath.
Of course, the other man noticed right away.
Somewhere between the notes, a tought slipped in:
| His hand...how could it feel both so strong and soft at the same time?
Jae-hyun didn't speak. He let one of his finger drift slowly across the back of Dae-jin's hand. It sent a shiver up his arm. His breath caught for just a second, but he didn't pull away.
Then, just as gently, Jae-hyun's fingers slid between his. Their hands fit together so naturally, it almost startled Dae-jin.
- What...are you doing? - he asked, his voice was weaker than he expected to be, like part of him didn't even wanted to say it out loud.
- What's wrong? - Jae-hyun smiled amused. - Isn't this what you wanted?
........
Not long after, they finally reached the apartment.
Dae-jin slowed down a little as he stepped through the open door, trailing just behind Jae-hyun. He couldn't even find the words to describe the room. The space in front of him was...stunning.
Massive windows stretched across the wall, revealing a breathtaking view of the city that seemed to go on forever. The skyline glittered in the distance. It felt surreal for someone like Dae-jin. The apartment itself was spacious, minimalist and almost unnaturally tidy. Everything had its place.
Dae-jin stood there, almost slack-jawed while he looked around.
Meanwhile, Jae-hyun stood by the window with his hands in his pocket admiring the city lights like it was nothing special to him.
Dae-jin couldn't help but think – even in a hundred years, he'd never get used to this kind of luxury.
His own apartment was maybe a quarter of the size, but it was clean, organized. Simple. It fit to his personality. And that thought unsettled him a little.
Jae-hyun cleared his throat out of nowhere and, with slow steps, walked over to the fridge across from the kitchen island and disapperaed behind one of the large doors.
- Alright. - his voice called out from inside, casually. - What would you like to drink?
- Anything's fine. - Dae-jin replied, turning toward the sound of Jae-hyun's voice.
- Perfect. - he responded, followed by the clinking sound of bottles. - Looks like I've got two bottles soju left. How about it?
Dae-jin let out a soft sigh, reaching out to take one of the green bottle from Jae-hyun's hand.
- Fine. - he muttered.
| But keep your hand's where I can see them, dumbass - he thought.
- Okay. Okay. I'll keep that in mind. - Jae-hyun laughed clearly enjoying the banter more than he should've .
He made his way over the couch, and sat down then patted the empty spot beside him.
Dae-jin hesitated a bit, but after he settled next to him opening the bottle. Jae-hyun also twisted the cap off his own bottle, lifted it slightly toward Dae-jin.
- To us. Being so close already. - he said it with a grin.
- In your dreams. - Dae-jin muttered, and took a long sip of the alcohol.
The liquid spread a pleasant warmth through his chest, though it left behind a slight sting. He hadn't eaten much that day. So he knew he needed to be careful. The last thing he wanted was to get drunk too fast. Not with this pervert sitting right next to him.
