Chapter 3: Dralog and her

Everybody took a step back, even Morpheus stood up straight, nolonger feeling sleepy. Don't worry, they're blind, said the leader. Now that he looked closer, it eyes were smokey white without any iris or pupils.

Dralog, also called sand dragons, they're blind, deaf and have a terrible sense of smell, the leader said calmly. Then, how do they hunt? Asked one of his teammates with confusion.

Through vibrations, it the reason they live in the sand of bones, look, do you see the difference between that sand and the one we're standing on?

Everybody followed where he was pointing. That sand is a bit white compared to this one, answered the hard skin bald guy. Exactly, that sand is easy to move through and can transmit vibrations easier.

So rest assured, that thing won't go beyond the boundary of the white sand of bones. Well that a relief, said the sword guy with a relieved smile.

He had to agree, he couldn't imagine surviving a confrontation with that creature, it looked much stronger than the scorpion. The leader kept searching for something.

15 minutes later he found it. It was a path through the white sand, it was made of crushed grey stone and was only 3 metres wide but stretched to the horizon. Well it looked wider on other parts and less wide of others.

They stood infront of this grey path then the leader called one of the captives forward. Move, he said. The man looked terrified, his body was shaking constantly from fear but he moved nonetheless.

For a few kilometres nothing happened, even the leading man was starting to relax then suddenly he disappeared. Everybody stopped, overcame by surprise and fear.

Nobody knew what happened, there was no warning or anything he just disappeared. Then they heard a scream, the man appeared out of thin air a few dozen metres away to the side.

He fell on the white sand of bones with a bang. Morpheus shook his head, if what the leader guy said is true then that man is as good as dead.

He watched as the guy stood up and touched himself checking if he's still alive them started laughing. He wanted to tell him to run but shouting sounded like too much work so he didn't bother.

As he thought, just as the man was still laughing outloud like a madman a giant head sprung out of the sand below him, huge teeth almost as tall as he was bit him in half.

The other captives panicked and screamed but with a single gesture from the leader they quieted down. The man died so suddenly he did not even get a chance to register it.

A huge smile was still stuck on his face. The Dralog ate the rest of his body then sunk back to the sand. With a gesture the leader commanded them to move forward.

He forced another to take the lead, they moved a few hundred metres then he man stopped, everybody was confused as to why he suddenly stopped.

Then his body fell in two pieces as if he had been bisected by a blade. Fear filled the hearts of all those present, nobody knew what what happened, however upon closer look they noticed the air or rather the space was like a moving thin glass where the man stood before.

However that phenomenon only stretched for less than a metre to the side so they moved around it, they did not have the luxury to care about the dead man.

Fear permeated the hearts of all the captives, even their captors looked uneasy but strangely he felt nothing. He somehow believed he would survive no matter what came at them as long as he wasn't stupid.

They continued and more and more of them died, only 23 of them remained now, not counting their captors ofcourse. They chose another person to take the lead and it was the scarred blonde woman.

Morpheus only raised his head slightly then lost interest, that is until the woman did something he had not expected anybody else here to be capable of.

She dodged an invisible attack or phenomenon, she was the first to actually dodge these strange phenomenon without anybody dying to them first.

He didn't expect anybody to have senses as strong as his, ofcourse his are mostly dulled by his constant need to sleep but they're still sharp enough to keep him alive.

Infact they were so high if one didn't know better they might believe he was an ability holder. That why he was able to dodge the tail attack of the scorpion even though it moved faster than his eyes could perceive it.

The woman continued undetered, she dodged a few more which drew even the attention of the leader, he had a contemplative look on his face while looking at her, suspicion was apparent in his eyes.

Just as everybody was still admiring her skill she disappeared, they had seen this multiple times before, they looked at either side of the path waiting for her to come out.

All those who had fallen through this had died, no matter how much they ran the Dralog always caught them without exception, one muscular man who looked healthier than most was the only one who almost reached the path but was caught and devoured as well.

Everybody thought she was dead, Morpheus sighed, she was an interesting character. Even the leader lost interest, let go, he said. They were just about to leave when she fell out of thin air.

She did not waste any time, she ran with everything she got the moment she hit the ground. The sand moved, it was coming for her and it was coming fast.

She jumped to the side and rolled and a moment later a dragon like head with horns that fanned out came out of the sand like an explosion, sending sand flying in all directions.

She stood up and ran, it short legs dragged it forward chasing after her. She rolled forward just a split moment before the giant maw snapped behind her.

It attacks were fast, it giant head appeared like a blur everytime it attacked her but she dodged all of them. To be more specific she dodged before it could even attack as If she knew it would.

Morpheus smiled, he was certain now, this girl had a similar ability to his, she was the first person he met who was like that. She ran with all of her might.

She was close to reaching the path, instead of running straight towards them like one would expect she ran towards the space phenomenon that teleported her.

This confused the others but Morpheus figured her thoughts process, she was becoming more and more interesting. When she reached the gravel path she slid forward.

The Dralog attacked, it head snapping forward but instead of getting her, it disappeared, the huge 10 metre tall body continued forward and disappeared as well.

Surprise flickered in everyone's eyes, they looked to the side and the giant head came out falling to the sand, a second later the body followed.

Is..is it dead? Asked one of the captives. It..it dead, it really dead, replied another. They all screamed with joy. He just shook his head, he doubted it was the only one around here.

Quiet, let go, the leader said, ordering the girl to continue leading, she gave him a look that filled with hatred but he just smiled provocatively.
