The Order

Ludger entered the Church of The Twilight Goddess, walking past a Priest, he opened the door which lead to a hallway that lead him downstairs.

After walking for a few minutes, he arrived at a door and pushed it open. It led into the Order's base, concealed within a dozen of ''ordinary buildings'' such as churches which worship the Twilight Goddess, coffee shops and even a select few museums.

He stopped in front of the Captain's office, knocking on the door. A familiar voice rang out, "Come in."

He creaked the door open as he stepped inside and closed the door behind him.

Captain Adam was sat on his chair, it was apparent that he was reading a newspaper, because he had folded it when Ludger walked in.

After a few moments in silence Adam spoke, "Spirit Medium Evangeline has entered Redwell, she's currently in a carriage to the Church."

Adam informed Ludger, the reason for this was because Ludger had been concerned about the sudden rise in Evil spirit appearances.

Ludger hadn't shown any emotion in his face but he sighed inwardly.

"Kieren Rosevell is clearly Awakening, or maybe at the stage of being Awakened." Ludger included the possibility of Kieren being at a higher stage of Ascension without directly mentioning it. He brought it up so they could do a deeper investigation on him.

Adam twirled his glistening white hair in thought for a second or two. "He is going to be useful. Is there any particular reason that you don't trust him?" Adam asked, his tone imbued with suspicion, perhaps trying to confirm something.

"I am not questioning your vision Captain. I just don't understand how we can allow a person who disappeared to a place that was untraceable to even the Crimson Sun, into our team." Ludger said with his usual cold tone.

Adam sighed, "Since your belief is with the Godfather of Magic you may not understand the validity of visions that the Twilight Goddess believers receive, but I assure you, he will deal us no great harm, it is for our benefit in the future that he joins our organization."

Knock knock knock

Ludger glanced at the door, then at the Captain. He gave the Captain a respectful bow and suddenly vanished, leaving no trace. Adam sighed, What a flashy pathway. He thought to himself, before he glanced near the door.

Adam glanced at the glowing orb hiding near the door and gave it a nod. Shortly after, the door creaked open slowly.

"How cruel of you to use spirits to open doors." An ethereal echoed throughout the room, a woman with dyed purple hair which reached her back, walked in.

"And you haven't changed one bit, Evangeline." Adam smiled at her.

Evangeline's ocean-blue eyes studied Adam, her former team colleague, for a moment.

She then sighed, "You used to always be so direct, so I will get to the point. The Evil spirits are being controlled by something, or somebody. I cannot confirm if it's an evil existence or a person who might be able to control other creatures with the help of their pathway."

When somebody undergoes an Awakening, the God they put their belief in bestows them with a "pathway", that pathway holds abilities they can unlock by reaching a new stage of Ascension.

Adam opened a cupboard, pulling out documents. Evangeline grabbed the documents from Adam, skimming over a few pages before her eyes suddenly stopped at a page.

"Don't you think it's weird?" Evangeline asked with a puzzled tone. "What is?" Adam asked curiously.

"The Evil spirit's have always been talkative when they died, but this year it looks as if they were..." Evangeline paused and turned to Adam. At the same moment, they both said in unison, "Silenced."

Evangeline thought for a moment, "Assign your team to aid me for my investigations." Adam nodded, whistling to attract spirits only visible to those who walked in the pathway of Twilight Goddess.

Many glowing orbs formed all around Adam, some glowing brighter than others. ''Gather the company and inform them that they will be serving under Spirit Medium Evangeline for a month or two.''

Evangeline glanced at Adam, unable to hold back her question due to her curiosity. "What will you do in the mean time?''

Adam met her ocean blue eyes with a calm smile. "Investigate the twenty mysterious disappearances that happened in Redwell."

At his words, Evangeline's expression fell.

''You couldn't tell me that before I came here personally?!"

******************************

James stopped outside the Red Bar, he took off his hat, so as to avoid attention he might attract to his suspicious outfit.

He entered and approached the bartender, who was cleaning a cup. "Give me a mimosa."

The thick bearded man observed James for a few moments before he spoke with a deep voice, "Why are you here?" He slammed a cup filled with mimosa on the table.

"Information." James said quickly, conveying confident body language, as if he had done this multiple times.

"You need to get into specifics." The bartender said with an unwelcoming tone.

"Was there an elf with crimson red hair here? And what was he doing?"

The bartender remained silent, James showed a badge that belonged to the Sheriff department of Redwell.

The bartender tsked and glanced away, before he said with a low voice. "He came in around thirty minutes ago for a drink and chatted with another Elf before he left."

"What did they talk about?"

The bartender remained silent. Seeing this James asked a different question, "Did they leave together? If so, mind telling me where?"

"No, they left a few minutes after the other. I don't know where they went."

James finished his mimosa in under twenty seconds before he slammed a few pounds on the table, "Thank you."

He swiftly left the bar, he was going to head to Kieren's apartment.

As he walked past a fountain a voice echoed throughout his mind, "Return to base. Captain is going to lend you to Spirit Medium Evangeline."

James paused, It seems that the Evil spirits case was not that simple after all.

He swiftly turned around, placing his hat on his head. Bumping into another drunken fellow accidentally, before he quickly left the area.

The drunken Elf fell on the ground, his hat flew off, revealing a crimson haired Elf who could barely walk straight.
