Bolt Kingdom. Throne Hall.
The Table Senate sat in a half circle. The King appeared tall, seated on his own black throne in the hidden High Court.
Yami leaned against a pillar in the shadows, arms crossed.
A soldier finished his report, voice shaky.
"...The Colossal did not fall."
The Senate of Arms narrowed his eyes. "Explain."
The soldier swallowed. "It moved."
Gasps. Even the coldest among them stiffened.
"The one buried in the Deadspan Wastes," the soldier continued. "It suddenly started moving and crossed the border..."
He turned to the king's projection.
"...into the Germa Kingdom. And flattened an entire city."
Silence.
The King finally spoke, calm but sharp. "Which city?"
The soldier lowered his gaze, "Luthadel, your majesty. Over seventy thousand civilians. No warning, no survivors."
A long pause. Then...
SLAM.
Yami kicked a chair aside.
"That's not a Colossal," he growled. "That's a fucking declaration of war."
The silver-eyed woman Senate leaned forward.
"You've seen Collosals in motion before, haven't you?"
Yami nodded grimly. "Only once. And it took three nations and twenty elite wielders to take down one."
The King's voice crackled.
"Germa has not accused us. Yet."
The Senate of Whispers added, " Because they're terrified. They think we awakened it."
"But we didn't," muttered the Senate of Arms. "Which means someone else did."
Yami looked at the map burning with red marks.
"We need to find out how that Colossal's seal broke. And who made it happen."
The King's voice dropped cold and final.
"Start with the students. Look for anyone with a Power that breaks the laws of this world."
"I will grant anyone who can defeat a Colossal alone, my whole kingdom."
"All nations will start sharpening their blades."
"We must sharpen ours first."
Red Spire Academy. Principals Office.
The principal unfolded the sealed parchment with steady fingers. The wax mark: The King's own.
He read it silently. Then again.
Behind him, Vice Principal Veyna watched.
"Bad news?"
"No," the headmaster said slowly. "Opportunity."
He turned the letter so she could read:
'To the leadership of Red Spire Academy,
A year from now, all Power Academies under the Bolt Kingdom will send their five top combat students to the Royal Arena.
A tournament of survival, skill, and Power.
The top three will be granted permission to learn the first stage of the Power Zone.
They will also be eligible for direct entry into the Royal Guard.
Failure to participate will be taken as a mark of weakness.
Signed,
King Edoras Kael of Bolt'
Veyna exhaled. "Power Zone... I thought that was still classified."
The headmaster's mouth twisted into a grin. "Desperation makes kings generous."
He rolled up the parchment.
"Call the Elite Class of 1 to 5."
After a while.
Assembly Grounds.
The students buzzed. The sun was low.
Twenty-five elite class students stood in rows. Most were whispering, but not when the headmaster stepped out.
He read the King's message aloud.
Eyes widened.
Power Zone. A concept only theorized in advanced Power theory lectures: a space of absolute control where a wielder's ability warped the rules inside a sealed domain. No one under thirty had ever learned it and before they learnt the king had to give them permission.
The headmaster's voice carried:
"This tournament will change the fate of nations. You have one year."
"But don't get cocky," Veyna added sharply. "Because today..."
"...you'll meet someone who's already far beyond you."
She raised her hand.
A gate at the side of the yard opened.
And he walked in.
Slouched posture. Hood pulled deep. Gloves over trembling hands.
Short black hair. Narrow eyes.
He looked... normal. Scared, even.
Cid narrowed his eyes.
Elias blinked.
Veyna spoke, "This is Yuri Falk, age sixteen. Elite Class 5"
"He's been in isolation training, monitored by the King's special forces."
"He scored the highest measured Power flux in the last decade."
Elias leaned toward Cid. "He looks like he's about to pee himself."
Yuri reached the center of the circle and bowed deeply. Voice like a whisper.
"H..Hello."
Nobody responded.
One brave idiot smirked. "We're supposed to believe this crybaby's the top dog?"
Then...
BOOM.
Every single student collapsed to their knees.
Even Cid.
The ground cracked around Yuri's feet in a perfect circle. Dust floated up like gravity reversed.
Elias felt the pressure outside his body, like the air wanted to crush him inward.
But Yuri himself?
He was still shaking. "S..Sorry. I..I don't like being called that."
The headmaster raised two fingers and the pressure snapped away.
Students gasped for air.
Yurei looked like he might cry. "I'm really not trying to hurt anyone. I swear."
Then he ran off behind the building.
Silence.
Cid muttered, "What the hell is he?"
Elias wiped sweat off his brow. "A monster with social anxiety."
The vice principal:
"What he just used is Aura."
"The Aura users are on a whole other level"
"If you want to participate in the tournament, you have to be stronger or at least as strong as Yuri."
Veyna clapped once.
"Welcome to the real competition."
