It was Kristen.
"You again?" Alice exclaimed, narrowing her eyes at Kristen. "Wasn't coming to my home enough?"
"I was invited there," Kristen retorted, folding her arms and pressing her lips together. "Unlike you, who broke into mine."
"Wow. So, in my final year, I have to share my dorm with you," Alice said, rolling her eyes.
"I think it's mutual. Trust me, I'm not interested in living with you either," Kristen replied.
Alice ignored her roommate, Kristen, and walked to her room, carrying her belongings. The dorm was designed for two students, featuring a room on either side. The living room led to a balcony and an open kitchen on the side.
Alice opened the door to her room. The walls were painted grey, giving some dark academia vibes. In one corner stood a walnut wood table with fluted legs and an antique lamp. In front of it was a double bed draped in black and red velvet. Above the table, a glass bookshelf was filled with leather-bound journals. There was also a door leading to a marble-floored bathroom. A closet contained the academy's uniform, while a vanity corner was situated next to the bed. In front of the vanity, a large glass window let in sunlight, covered by heavy red silk curtains. A plush, cushioned area next to the window provided a lovely spot to gaze out over the academy's courtyard.
After putting her belongings in their proper places, Alice went to check the class schedule. Since it was the first day back, there were both new and returning students. The class schedules were typically pinned on the bulletin board in the corridors.
At the academy, some classes were mandatory, including Magical Creature Studies, Arcane Fundamentals, Potion Alchemy, Warcraft, and Shielding Magic. In addition to these, students had to choose a branch from each of the following categories: Human World Studies, Non-Magical Combat Training, and Advanced Courses of Magic.
Alice checked her schedule. Along with the mandatory classes, she had chosen Morder Relic Analysis for Human World Studies, Bladework Discipline for Non-Magical Combat Training, and Mythical Mathematics for Advanced Courses of Magic.
After noting her schedule, Alice returned to her dorm. Before entering, she leaned against the wall outside and took a deep breath, realising she would have to learn to coexist with Kristen Austen now.
Walking inside, she settled on the couch and searched for a good series to watch. Soon, the door to Kristen's room clicked open, and Kristen emerged, wrapped only in a towel. When she walked into the living room and saw Alice on the couch, she nearly screamed. Alice turned to see what was happening, and upon realising Kristen was nearly naked, she quickly closed her eyes and turned her back. "Oh God, don't you remember that you're living with me now? This is not your palace, princess," Alice said through gritted teeth.
Kristen hurried back into her room, but moments later, she reappeared dressed in cargo pants and an oversized hoodie, her wet hair cascading over her shoulders. She stood next to Alice and cleared her throat. Alice looked up and noticed the remnants of redness on Kristen's neck, raising an eyebrow.
"I thought you would be out for a long time. Who comes in like that without making any noise?" Kristen remarked, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Well, if I remember correctly, this is my dorm too," Alice replied.
"Yeah, right," Kristen said before walking to the kitchen. "It's going to take time to get used to this," she grumbled to herself, but Alice heard. This is the first time I agree with her, Alice thought with a sigh.
