I awoke to darkness and pain. My head throbbed, and every muscle in my body felt like lead. The cold concrete beneath me seeped through my clothes, stealing what little warmth I had left.
Where was I?
I tried to move, but something heavy restricted my wrists and ankles. The metallic clink of chains echoed in the darkness. When I attempted to reach for my wolf, a searing pain shot through my body, making me gasp. Silver. The chains were silver.
As my eyes adjusted to the dim light, I made out rough stone walls. A cellar, maybe? The air was damp and smelled of earth and mildew. I struggled to remember how I'd gotten here.
Flashes of memory returned—dinner with Camille, sneaking out the back of the restaurant, running through the streets laughing, then... the white van. The masked men. The needle in my neck.
Panic surged through me. "Camille?" I whispered, my voice hoarse.
