The silence in the depths of the forgotten prison was suffocating.
The air was thick with dust, lingering enchantments… and secrets buried for far too long.
Meliodas stepped slowly toward the rusted bars of the cell.
The strange, weary-eyed demon stared back without blinking.
"How do you know we're looking for something?" Meliodas asked, cautious.
The old demon—Kaelis—gave a faint smile and stepped closer, dragging his chains behind him like echoes of the past.
"Honestly… very few ever come down here. Aside from the Demon King himself. So when two powerful demons walk through a corridor that hasn't been touched in millennia… it reeks of secrets, doesn't it?"
Meliodas and Zeldris exchanged a silent glance.
Kaelis continued, his pale eyes studying them intently.
"And besides… the way you both look, I could tell. You're not searching for a place… but a person. Or perhaps… a truth."
Zeldris stepped forward, his voice firm.
"We were told a demon locked away here might hold answers. Answers tied to a mystery about the royal demon bloodline. Is that you?"
Kaelis chuckled softly, a coarse sound that echoed through the cell.
"It's been a long time since I was anything more than a memory trapped between these walls. I barely know what's left of the outside world. But a mystery about the royal family? Heh… Now that's interesting."
Meliodas crouched down, locking eyes with the old being.
"By any chance… have you ever heard of a demon named Zephyr?"
The moment the name was spoken, Kaelis's face froze.
As if an invisible blade had pierced his chest.
His breath hitched, and his eyes widened.
The silence returned, heavier than before.
"Wh… What did you say?" Kaelis repeated, his voice suddenly trembling.
"Zephyr," Meliodas said again.
"Does that name mean anything to you?"
The old demon stepped back, as if reliving a memory buried deep within.
"That name… I haven't heard it in… in so long."
He looked up at them again, this time with more intensity.
"Who are you… really?"
Meliodas stood, arms crossed.
"My name is Meliodas. Captain of the Seven Deadly Sins… and King of the Kingdom of Liones."
Zeldris added in a firm tone:
"And I am Zeldris. New King of the Demon Realm."
Kaelis's breath caught once more.
"Then… it falls to you… to carry the weight of this truth."
