Chapter 31: 800-Meter Kunai Throw

Rin Nohara could see Obito Uchiha's predicament. He stood there, frozen, a bead of sweat rolling down his face like a soybean.

"Um... Obito, why don't you let Hagawa explain it? You can go get busy," Rin said, taking back the notebook and choosing her words carefully.

"It's not that I don't understand, I just..." Obito's neck stiffened and his face flushed red as he tried to force an explanation, followed by a stream of hard-to-understand phrases like "it's too simple" and "I'll explain it to you alone later."

The air inside and outside the classroom was filled with mirth.

Kurenai Yūhi couldn't help but laugh. Although she was sitting far away, she had been paying attention to Hagawa, so she had heard everything Obito said. How to put it? She meant no harm; she just found his words inexplicably funny.

It wasn't just her; Shizune and the others near Obito were also laughing. Only Asuma Sarutobi wasn't; he even looked sympathetic. Because he understood all too well the feeling of having his beloved stolen away.

Asuma couldn't help but shake his head. He felt as if a thick, lamentable barrier separated him from them. The pain! It hurts so much! But to just let go... he couldn't do it.

A corner of Hagawa's mouth twitched. I'm from Dunhuang, and this is a mural.

"Obito," Rin called out, a little embarrassed.

"I... I'll go back to my seat first. You come back soon!" Obito shot a glare at Hagawa, then turned and walked away.

"Sorry," Rin said with an apologetic smile, her voice gentle. "That's just his personality. Although he's a bit hyperactive sometimes, he's a very good person."

"It's fine. I'll continue explaining to you."

For the time being, Hagawa wasn't worried about Obito causing trouble. His current strength didn't allow for it, and besides, Rin was still alive. In fact, Hagawa rather hoped Obito would challenge him so he could play around with him. Maybe he could even unlock a Fire Style talent from it. The only trouble was Madara Uchiha and Black and White Zetsu. At this point in time, they might have already set their sights on Obito.

"Thank you," Rin said earnestly before returning to her seat.

Obito's suspended heart finally settled. He clenched his fists, vowing to study hard. But... one look at the math problems, and he thought, forget it, just forget it. I can't learn this. If theory didn't work, then he would start from strength. Obito thought of the practical combat portion of the final exams; perhaps that would be his chance.

Hagawa didn't know what he was thinking. After school, he said goodbye to Kurenai and then headed towards Tsunade's house. Because his "Seven Ninja Tools" trait only had 2% of its progress bar left. With a little effort today, he could hit a home run.

Hagawa paused as he passed by the Konoha Knowledge Bookstore. So popular? He looked at the long queue of customers buying books and thought to himself, This is good. The money shouldn't be too little.

He already had an idea for how to use his first pot of gold: forging a sword. He had been practicing the Konoha-Style Kenjutsu with a wooden sword, but that definitely wouldn't work in a real battle. Asking Shinku Yūhi for money didn't feel right. After all, he had already helped him so much.

Hagawa stroked his chin. He wondered if he could buy a chakra metal katana. Chakra metal referred to a material that could better adhere to chakra, increasing attack power and range. Because of its special effect, it was extremely expensive. In the original work, Asuma Sarutobi was one of the few ninja who used chakra metal blades. Hagawa guessed he hadn't bought them himself, but that they were a gift from Hiruzen Sarutobi. The perfect title for a Konoha essay: My Hokage Father.

Hagawa crossed the street and soon arrived at Tsunade's house. He came here often, so he was familiar with the path. Tsunade's home was actually the former residence of Hashirama Senju and Mito Uzumaki, located between the Hokage Rock and the Konoha Hospital.

He raised his hand and knocked, but no one answered. Did she go gambling again? Or is she at the Konoha Hospital? At this time of day, the former was more likely.

Hagawa went to the open space in front of the door, took out his wooden sword, and started practicing his Konoha-Style Kenjutsu to increase his proficiency. Konoha-Style Kenjutsu was a complete system, but in the original work, there were two sword moves with immense power. The first was Maruboshi Kosuke's Konoha-Style: Willow. The second was the Dance of the Crescent Moon, used by Hayate Gekko and Yugao Uzuki. Konoha-Style: Willow was created by Maruboshi Kosuke himself, so it couldn't be learned. But the Dance of the Crescent Moon could. Unfortunately, Hagawa wasn't qualified yet, because it had to be combined with the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Just then, Hagawa suddenly raised an eyebrow. Was that an earthquake? He subconsciously turned around and saw Tsunade with an ugly expression on her face. With a light step, she crushed the stones on the ground, making the earth crack like an eggshell.

"When did you get here?" Tsunade asked, her expression softening when she saw him.

"Just a few minutes ago." Hagawa blinked and said, "I'm free tomorrow. I can go to the casino." If he didn't mess up, he could unlock the "Seven Ninja Tools" trait today, so taking half a day off wouldn't matter.

Tsunade was slightly taken aback by his words. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, then reached out and flicked his forehead. "I may like to gamble, but I haven't reached that point."

Hagawa wanted to say something but stopped. Your words have absolutely no persuasive power. Who was it that had come looking for him during class? But he didn't dare to say it out loud, because he was afraid Tsunade would flick his head off and kill him. After all, her monstrous strength had a track record.

"Come on, inside." Tsunade swept away the gloom and said excitedly, "Finish learning today, and we'll go to the casino tomorrow!"

Did you learn how to change faces so quickly from your two-thousand ryo teammates?

Hagawa looked up and saw Tsunade changing her shoes in the entryway. She pressed her left hand against the wall, her body slightly bent, her hips showing a full curve. Her arm stretched out as she took off her right shoe with her right hand. The fair sole of her foot flashed for a moment before quickly stepping onto the carpet.

"Don't just stand there dazed. Hurry up and come in," Tsunade said, glancing at him before walking into the living room barefoot.

"Oh," Hagawa quickly followed.

Just like before, the two of them took scalpels and began to dissect a live chicken. An hour later, Hagawa's body trembled, and a few lines of text appeared before his eyes.

[E-Rank Talent Trait: Seven Ninja Tools (Acquired).]

[Trigger Condition: Basic proficiency in the seven ninja tools.]

[Effect: The power of all ninja tools is increased by 10%.]

[Synthesis conditions for D-Rank Ninja Tool Mastery have been met. Synthesize?]

[After synthesis, the effects of non-similar low-level traits will not disappear.]

With a thought, Hagawa chose to synthesize without any hesitation.

[D-Rank Talent Trait: Ninja Tool Mastery (Acquired).]

[Trigger Condition: Synthesis of E-Rank traits 'Seven Ninja Tools' and 'Ninja Tool Throwing'.]

[Effect: Increases arm strength by 30% on top of the original foundation. When using ninja tools, an 8x scope effect is automatically applied.]

Damn! He had guessed the 30% increase in arm strength, but he hadn't expected a slick operation like an 8x scope. Now that was a surprise.

Kakuzu's feat of throwing a kunai from 800 meters away might just become a reality.
