Chapter 36: I Can Tell at a Glance You Are Not Human

Eiichiro continued to announce the rankings. Unsurprisingly, second place went to Kakashi Hatake. But he couldn't be happy about it, because he had fallen from first place.

However, there was still a chance. The final exam ranking was a combination of theory and practical skills. As long as he got first place in the practical exam, it was still uncertain who would be number one overall.

Kakashi shot an expressionless glance at Hagawa. His own face was calm and composed, as if he had already anticipated this. This feeling... isn't this how I used to be? Kakashi subconsciously clenched his fists. The practical exam would not be so simple.

Kurenai Yūhi was in sixth place, a normal performance for her.

After listening, Hagawa shifted his attention to his trait system.

[E-Rank Talent Trait: Top Student (Acquired).]

[Trigger Condition: First place in the first semester's theory course.]

[Effect: Comprehension increased by 10%.]

[Note: Achieving first place in more theory courses can lead to an evolution into the D-Rank trait 'God of Studying'.]

Comprehension? Hagawa was taken aback. This effect was somewhat unexpected. But on second thought, it could be very useful, for example, when learning high-difficulty ninjutsu.

"Last place, Obito Uchiha," Eiichiro said, shaking his head.

Dammit! My feeling was wrong after all! Obito's face immediately showed a look of unwillingness. His own failure was certainly frustrating, but his rival's success was even more heartbreaking. Before, it was Kakashi. Now, it was Hagawa.

However, the situation with the two was different. Kakashi had absolutely no interest in Rin Nohara, living by the creed that "women only get in the way of me drawing my sword." But Hagawa not only had a good relationship with Kurenai, but he also didn't reject Rin. He was simply enviable... no, a scumbag!

Obito subconsciously looked towards Rin.

"Obito," Rin noticed his gaze and said comfortingly, "just try harder next time."

She has me in her heart! Hearing her gentle tone, Obito immediately threw all thoughts of Hagawa out of his mind and nodded excitedly.

"The first semester is over. Everyone did well, but a few individual students need to adjust their attitudes," Eiichiro began his concluding remarks.

Rin was listening, somewhat lost in thought. She was very curious about how Hagawa studied. Perhaps she could ask him next time.

"Alright, now proceed to the playground in an orderly fashion," Eiichiro said, clapping his hands.

Going to the playground was to listen to Hiruzen Sarutobi's speech. This was a tradition at the Ninja Academy for both the opening ceremony and the graduation ceremony. Hiruzen, being both the Hokage and the nominal principal, had to give a speech. And he was also willing to instill the Will of Fire into these futures of Konoha so that they could grow up strong.

"Next, I will talk about six points..." Hiruzen said with a smile, standing on the high platform.

"What the hell is this!" Half an hour later, Asuma was so anxious he wanted to go up and pull him down. This old man was simply wasting his time. Hagawa, for his part, supported this display of "fatherly love and filial piety." He really can talk, a torrent of endless words.

After another half an hour, Hiruzen's speech finally ended.

Eiichiro breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Next up is the practical skills exam."

"Teacher!" Asuma immediately raised his hand and said, "I want to challenge Hagawa."

"No way!" Obito said quickly. "Hagawa is my opponent!"

"He's mine," Kakashi said coolly.

Rin raised her hand, then put it down again. She really wanted to say, "You all, stop fighting!" But she knew her two friends; neither would be easily persuaded. The only thing that surprised her was that the usually aloof Kakashi would also proactively challenge Hagawa.

"Hey!" Obito couldn't help but ask, "Kakashi, why are you fighting with me over this?" He couldn't remember Kakashi having any interaction with Hagawa. The only explanation was that he wanted to compete with him.

"You are not his opponent," Kakashi said, glancing at him.

"What did you say?!" Obito immediately exploded with anger.

"You are too impulsive. Going up there will only bring you trouble," Kakashi analyzed for him.

"You!" Obito completely lost his reason and said, "Then I'll beat you first!"

"Don't you two ignore me!" Asuma shouted.

Is Hagawa so popular? Hiruzen, having just come down from the high platform, stroked his beard as he watched this strange

shuraba (scene of conflict/carnage). He thought of his three students; they were also this full of vitality when they were young.

"Quiet!" Eiichiro noticed Hiruzen and said quickly. If he let them continue arguing, he might just get fired. But the current situation was indeed difficult to handle. One was the Hokage's son, one was the White Fang's son, and the other was an Uchiha. He couldn't afford to offend any of them.

"Hagawa, what do you think?" Eiichiro asked, a stroke of genius in his moment of desperation.

I'll watch with my eyes. Hagawa coughed lightly and said, "Since all three classmates are so enthusiastic, then let them all come."

"Huh?" Eiichiro was dumbfounded. Those three weren't ordinary students. Especially Kakashi, who was a genius among geniuses.

"As expected of children," Hiruzen couldn't help but laugh. After all, only children would want everything. Adults knew their bodies couldn't take it.

"You evil little brat Hagawa, I'll..." Asuma was enraged by Hagawa's arrogance and was about to make a move when he saw Obito had already taken his position first.

"Then let's start with Obito," Hagawa said with a look of indifference.

Eiichiro hesitated for a few seconds, then agreed. Hagawa casually took out two kunai.

"Using kunai against an Uchiha is the most foolish course of action!" Obito sneered, a look of disdain on his face, one step short of saying, "Mere parlor tricks, how dare you show them off before an expert?"

Hagawa smiled. So cocky? You think you're so tough? You little punk.

WHOOSH!

Two kunai flew past Obito's face. He subconsciously touched it; there was blood on his fingers.

I haven't even started, how was I defeated in an instant? He froze on the spot.

"Not bad strength." Sakumo Hatake flashed, caught the two kunai, and said with admiration.

Monstrous strength? No, it's not. Hiruzen, as the "Professor" of ninjutsu, naturally understood monstrous strength. This didn't use any technique; it was just pure physical power. He couldn't help but think of that girl Tsunade who liked to climb walls. No wonder she and Hagawa had been getting so close lately.

"So fast!" Kakashi's heart sounded an alarm. His family's sword style was known for its speed, but just now, he had almost failed to react to those two kunai.

"Winner, Hagawa," Eiichiro said, swallowing hard. Daring demon, I saw at a glance that you are not human! The level of this kunai throw... he felt it was even more terrifying than his own. But he was a chunin.

"Wait! I haven't..." Obito reacted and quickly waved at Eiichiro.

"Obito." Rin walked up, pulled him down, and took out a band-aid. "Let me help you bandage it." This was both to bandage his wound and to give him a way to save face. She had already seen that Obito was far from being Hagawa's opponent.
