Chapter 3

The phone with the shattered screen on the ground started ringing.

It was a call from my mother-in-law, her voice trembling, "Your father is not doing well, Nate! Is he here yet?"

"The doctor says your father is about to pass, Sophie! Please come back quickly! I don't know what to do!"

My mother-in-law was already choking with sobs, and I was on the brink of collapse. By now, Nate Grant had already vanished without a trace.

Why doesn't he believe in me, why can he ignore his own father's fate for another woman!

He is so heartless! So cruel!

I used all the strength I had left to scream in the direction he drove off: "Nate Grant! Come back, Nate!"

But it was all in vain.

I hurried back to the hospital, and my mother-in-law, seeing me return alone, shook her head helplessly.

I quickly grasped her withered hand, apologizing with tears in my eyes.

"I'm sorry, Mom, I couldn't bring Nate back..."

My mother-in-law slapped the bed, shaking her head, crying out loud, "That bastard! That beast! How did I give birth to such an ungrateful son!"

"Ah..."

My father-in-law groaned on the hospital bed, seemingly wanting to speak. I hurried over to listen.

"Daughter... Nate... I want to see... my son..."

Tears welled up in my eyes, and I had no choice but to lie to him, "He's on his way, Dad, hang in there, Nate will be here soon."

"Ha... haha... ah..."

Hearing my words, my father-in-law seemed to know I was lying, suddenly couldn't catch his breath, and passed away.

Seeing this, my mother-in-law cried out on the bed, fainting and being carried away by the nurse.

The entire ward plunged into deep sorrow, with the cries of my mother-in-law and me echoing through the hospital.

Thinking of the care and concern my father-in-law showed me over the years, I found it hard to accept his departure.

I don't know how long it was before the nurse came over to offer her condolences, reminding us the room needed to be cleared.

At this point, thinking about how my father-in-law wanted to see his son before he passed but was left disappointed broke my heart even more.

I wanted to call Nate Grant to tell him his father had passed, but I still couldn't reach him.

Then I saw Julia Sanford's social media post, showing the two of them intimately at the beach, Julia wearing a seductive swimsuit flaunting her figure, and Nate Grant in shorts, holding her waist tightly.

Seeing them together so sweet and affectionate, I surprisingly became calm and composed, seeing everything clearly.

Calmly, I sent a message to Nate Grant.

"Let's get a divorce."
