Upon arriving at the hospital, Nathan Lowder gently comforted me.
"Don't worry, Emily, everything will be fine."
"Even if there really is a problem with your eyes, I'll stay with you and get them treated."
"Once we finish the examination, everything will be alright."
Listening to his hypocritical comfort in my ear, I couldn't help but sneer internally.
Nothing has even started, and Nathan is already planting psychological suggestions in me.
He's pushing both overtly and covertly for me to cooperate with the surgery and the treatment.
There's clearly nothing wrong with my eyes!
As a photographer, I've always taken great care of my eyes to shoot better pictures, and I don't even have myopia.
Damn Nathan, how dare he mess with my eyes.
Though my heart was filled with hate, I showed no sign on my face, simply nodding obediently and leaning against Nathan as I probed.
"Alright, I'll cooperate with the treatment, but... I don't think there's a need to make such a fuss. I can just buy some eye drops and apply them at home."
I suspected that my eye discomfort was due to Nathan's little tricks, but surely he wouldn't really harm my eyes.
Because he still had to exchange them with Sophia Keller.
Seeing that I didn't want to undergo treatment, Nathan panicked immediately.
"No way!"
He blurted out, then quickly calmed himself down, realizing his overreaction.
"Emily, you can't be so careless with your health! That's not acceptable!"
"Listen to me, since you're already here, why not just get checked?"
Pretending to be reluctantly hesitant, I nodded.
"Okay, let's go with your advice then."
Under his urging, I underwent a series of examinations, watching him pretend to be busy with disdain.
I couldn't understand those technical terms, so Nathan relied on my ignorance to forge the results.
Just as expected.
After he collected all the examination reports, he held my hand with a worried expression.
"Emily, it's lucky I brought you here, otherwise things could have gone really bad!"
Feigning panic, he looked relieved.
"There's an issue with your cornea, and it's no small matter. It's already deteriorating and requires immediate corneal transplant; otherwise, it might develop into eye cancer."
"But don't worry, I'm a doctor. I'll personally perform the surgery for you."
Afraid?
I sneered in my heart.
What I'd be afraid of is you operating on me!
If I really let you perform surgery on me, I would have no idea how I'd die!
Luckily, before coming down, I had already called my mom.
My mom will definitely rush over to stop all this; I just have to hold on until she arrives.
In my past life, by the time my mother found out about all this, it was already too late. She didn't have a chance to stop anything, as Nathan ideologically prevented me from contacting anyone after the surgery.
The only thing she ended up with was my corpse...
My hatred deepened.
Seeing Nathan's worried expression, I immediately feigned panic but still shook my head.
"Is it that scary? But no, I still have some photos to retouch."
"Let's have the surgery in a few days. Let me think it over; surgery is not a trivial matter."
How could he allow this!
Nathan's heart leapt into his throat.
Lately, Sophia Keller had been crying to him, complaining that Emily Vaughn blinded her out of jealousy for her talent and painting skills.
He had finally found an excuse to bring Emily Vaughn to the hospital.
Now, Sophia Keller was lying in the ward next door, waiting for a cornea!
The cornea must be transplanted today!
Nathan couldn't care less about anything else as he hurriedly grabbed me, earnestly pleading.
"Emily Vaughn, don't be so headstrong! This is a crucial matter; your eyes are the most important, everything else can wait."
"I just inquired, and there are available resources for you right now. It's best to get admitted today and undergo the surgery!"
He tightly grasped my hand, not letting go, like a vice, refusing to give up until he achieved his goal.
