Chapter 54: Binding Flame

Location: Relic Chamber – Sanctuary of the Breach

The candles had been burning for twelve hours straight.

Each flame danced in sync with the glyphs drawn on the stone floor, twisting and shimmering like they were alive — or hungry.

At the center of the formation stood Aeyra, arms bare, veins glowing with unstable mana.

Before her floated a half-shattered relic — the Breath of Veynar, forged in the era of the First Echoes.

It was outlawed by the old Circle for one reason:

> It could pull back a soul fragment that refused to return… even if it had already fused with something else.

---

Beside her: Kael, cloaked in a silence he hadn't worn since the Skyfall War.

He had felt Yanis' presence… briefly. A flicker. A spark.

But not enough.

> "You're sure this relic won't kill her?" he asked, voice taut.

> "No," Aeyra admitted. "I'm not sure of anything anymore."

She stepped into the center.

> "But if I don't do this now, the Ghost Queen will suppress her again. Yanis is trying to fight from inside."

She sliced her palm, letting her blood mix with the rune-lines.

The ritual began.

---

Within the Mind-Crucible

Yanis floated in a storm of her own fractured essence.

The emotional core she reclaimed had stabilized, but it was being hunted.

Threads of black logic — the Ghost Queen's psychic surveillance — snapped around her like vipers.

One coiled around her throat.

She gasped.

> "Kael…"

Then a pull.

A red light slicing through the void like a beacon.

She reached for it. Her fingers brushed the edge — and it burned.

> "Who…?"

Aeyra's voice echoed, distant but fierce:

> "Don't fade, Yanis. I'm anchoring you. Come back, dammit."

---

Sanctuary – Reality

The relic glowed blinding red.

Aeyra convulsed, coughing blood.

Something was pushing back — hard.

Kael stepped in, holding her upright.

> "Let me help."

> "You're the tether," she gasped. "Then become it."

Kael placed his hand on the relic — and called her name.

> "Yanis."

---

Within the Mind-Crucible

Her eyes snapped open.

Chains melted. Logic vipers screamed as the beacon grew.

Not red anymore — gold.

Kael's aura.

> "I remember you," she whispered.

> "And I'm not letting go again."

The storm shattered.

Yanis screamed — not in fear, but in declaration.

A soul tore from the Ghost Queen's prison — splintered, imperfect, but hers.

---

Sanctuary – Aftermath

Aeyra collapsed.

Kael caught her.

The relic, cracked beyond repair, disintegrated.

But in its place, lying unconscious on the chamber floor, was Yanis.

Her body flickered between spirit and flesh.

But her eyes — when they opened briefly — were real.

> "Kael…?"

> "Welcome back."
