Chapter 56: The Hidden Glyph

Location: Edge of the Withered Hollow – Makeshift Camp

Kael sat in silence beside a flickering blue flame, the third fragment hovering above his hand. It pulsed faintly — not with power, but memory. Something inside it called to him, a whisper lost in static.

Yanis sat nearby, her energy fluctuating wildly since her Soul Echo awakening. Aeyra kept watch, eyes sharp, senses stretched. No one trusted the night anymore.

Kael reached into the fragment again — deeper than before. He wasn't just trying to access it. He was trying to listen.

> "Talk to me," he muttered.

The glyphs within the fragment shifted in patterns unfamiliar to even him.

Suddenly, a burst of cold surged through his wrist, and the world twisted.

Kael's senses dropped into a corridor of fractal mirrors, each reflecting parts of his past — and some that weren't his at all.

Ahead, a figure cloaked in molten script waited.

Her voice was calm, echoing across the infinite glass.

> "You've come farther than I expected, bearer."

Kael recognized the voice before the face formed.

> The Forgemother.

Her appearance was a paradox — ancient and young, fire and frost, steel and flesh.

> "You left something in this fragment," Kael said. "Why?"

> "Because someone needed to remember. The Seeds are not divine. They are forged. Like weapons. Like lies."

Images cascaded around him — glimpses of the first Seed ceremony, the Reclaimers that failed, the Breach before it fractured.

Then a sigil appeared — rotating slowly in the air. A seed inside a broken anvil, its meaning buried under centuries of misdirection.

> "This is the original Glyph of Origin," the Forgemother whispered. "Banned by Virel. Erased from every Archive."

> "Why show me?"

> "Because you're not just Kael anymore," she said. "You're part of something older. And if you survive long enough to reach the Ashen Core, you'll understand."

Kael reached for the glyph—

—and snapped back.

Sweat ran down his back. His fingers burned.

Yanis and Aeyra rushed to him.

> "You vanished for five minutes," Aeyra said.

> "I was… somewhere else."

He opened his palm. There, hovering, was the new glyph — forged from memory and flame.

Yanis stepped closer, eyes widening.

> "That's not Seed-code."

> "No," Kael said. "It's older. It's truth."

Using the glyph as a key, Kael unlocked a sealed Archive Node embedded in old stone.

A recorded voice spoke — barely functional, but clear.

> "Protocol Breach 0001. Seed Control corrupted. Project Reclaimer terminated. Origin threat: Virel."

Aeyra swallowed hard. "The Seeds were never meant to rule."

Kael stood slowly.

> "Then maybe it's time someone reclaimed the right to forge again."
