Chapter 61: Rainbow Catcher

"Stop… stop?!"

Danzo stared in disbelief as the Fire Dragon Storm came to a sudden halt mid-air.

It wasn't a matter of ninjutsu malfunction.

The Ninjutsu team was still channeling chakra, their technique fully activated, but the raging, howling storm of fire had slammed against something unseen—something that halted its advance completely.

"What is this…?"

Danzo's thoughts were abruptly cut off.

He saw it.

Raindrops filled the air, suspended mid-descent. Reflected in the red light of the flames, they shimmered like tiny crimson gemstones.

Danzo reached out and touched one.

A sharp pain shot through his finger. It was like pressing against a nail. The raindrops didn't budge no matter how much force he applied.

Then he understood.

These rain droplets were what had stopped the Fire Dragon Storm.

But… how?

Controlling rain was Logan's ability, sure—but with the intense heat surrounding the firestorm, the rain should've evaporated long before it could interfere.

Sizzle.

A faint crackle accompanied a golden flash of lightning inside the raindrops.

The rain was reinforced by ripples and elemental forces.

Four-Star Stand: Rainbow Catcher

Ability: The Stand allows Logan to fix any raindrops he touches in mid-air, enabling him to step on them, weaponize them to slice enemies, or use them as immovable barriers.

Because water doesn't harm itself, Logan can even pierce a target with these rain droplets and maintain long-distance control by separating and manipulating their body parts.

It's a mouthful to explain, but in short, Logan controls the rain he touches—allowing a kind of self-"elementalization."

It's a powerful ability, but the Rainbow Catcher comes with three limitations:

1. It can only be activated in rainy weather.

2. Only touched rain can be manipulated, requiring time for Logan to warm up and spread contact across a large area.

3. Rain is still just water—easily evaporated by Fire Style or extreme heat.

The first limitation couldn't be helped. Logan didn't have a weather forecast jutsu.

But the last two?

Easily ignored.

Using ripple energy amplified by the Dragon Snake Orb, Logan infused his will into every drop of rain falling within a three-kilometer radius. Through elemental force, he turned the rain into both an impenetrable shield and a deadly weapon.

They were now Logan's strongest armor… and sharpest blade.

"What… what kind of jutsu is this?" Danzo whispered, panic beginning to well up. "Why have I never seen Logan use it before?"

He looked up.

"…Is it because of the rain?"

Root ninjas were discovering the truth firsthand. Many, having brushed against suspended droplets, bled from tiny, clean punctures across their skin.

"This is terrifying… How can one man control something like this?!"

Even Root, a unit trained to purge emotion, was shaken by the overwhelming force Logan displayed.

"Kakashi," Logan's voice echoed from above. "Besides the four of you, are there any friendlies still here?"

Kakashi shook his head.

Only he and his three companions had followed Logan into the Uchiha ruins. The others had remained behind out of respect.

"Good."

Kakashi's stomach dropped. He realized what Logan meant.

Could it be—

Buzz—Buzz—

The steady sound of rotor blades echoed across the sky.

A small aircraft circled overhead. The pilot, Smith, waved and gave Logan a thumbs-up.

"What are you planning?!" Danzo shouted, his voice high-pitched with fear.

Logan stretched out his palm. Raindrops danced onto it, glimmering like stars.

Then an overhead map of the Uchiha ruins appeared in his vision, highlighting 139 glowing red markers.

Target: Locked.

Logan clenched his fist.

"Let the rain pierce you."

The downpour intensified.

Raindrops became arrows—sharpened by elemental force and ripple energy—raining down on the Root agents.

The Root members launched defensive jutsu in a panic, but the rain sliced through like knives through paper.

Screams filled the battlefield.

The fire dragon storm, now uncontrolled, faded into the wet earth, leaving behind blackened craters as the only evidence of its power.

"Logan—!"

Danzo screamed, voice trembling with fury and fear.

Streams of water flowed into Logan's palm, condensing into a shimmering sphere.

"Don't worry," he said. "Konoha wants to protect Sasuke. I'll spare those you manipulated. But one person has to die today."

He raised his arm, the water sphere transforming into a serpentine dragon that surged forward.

"And that person is you."

The rain redirected, targeting Danzo with laser-like precision.

Within seconds, Danzo's body was reduced to a pin-cushion of wounds.

Then… his form flickered, dissipating.

A moment later, he reappeared a dozen meters away, whole again.

"Izanagi…"

The ultimate Uchiha eye technique—able to overwrite reality and turn death into illusion.

After reviving, Danzo didn't hesitate. He turned and ran from the ruins without even glancing at his dying subordinates.

The plan had failed.

He had underestimated Logan. To continue fighting would mean wasting his precious Sharingan—or worse, dying.

"Konoha still hasn't reclaimed its greatness," Danzo muttered as he ran through the rain.

"I can't die yet!"

As that thought crossed his mind, the downpour engulfed him again. Another Sharingan eye closed, activating Izanagi to shift reality and escape.

Buzz—Buzz—

The aircraft still hovered.

Logan, combining a five-star and four-star Stand, could maintain both nearly indefinitely thanks to his enhanced mental stamina.

"Protect Lord Danzo!"

A dozen Root agents, wounded and barely standing, tried to pursue him.

Kakashi stepped forward, intercepting them.

"Don't be foolish," he said firmly. "Logan already spared you. Don't throw your lives away—you can't stop him."

One Root member stood tall despite his wounds.

"Kakashi-senpai… people don't live for a lifetime. They live for a few moments."

"If we die, so be it. But Lord Danzo—he must survive."

One after another, injured Root members staggered up, surrounding Danzo with trembling arms and bloodied weapons.

Danzo continued to run, battered by rain, each rebirth eating another Sharingan.

He looked toward the glowing lights of Konoha in the distance.

"If I just reach the city… Sarutobi will be there…"

Just as hope flickered, a sword pierced his chest.

The Blade of Destruction tore through his robes, revealing the grotesque face of Hashirama grafted onto his body.

Danzo tried to activate Izanagi again.

Nothing happened.

His eyes widened in horror as he realized—the last Sharingan was closed.

"…So I've used them all…"

Boom.

Logan landed directly in front of him.

"Protect Danzo-sama!" Root shouted behind him.

Danzo coughed blood. "Logan! You can't kill me! Konoha needs me! I admit fault—just give me a chance!"

From the distance came a voice:

"Logan!"

Jiraiya appeared, sprinting toward them.

"You can't kill him! If you do, you'll shoulder a burden that isn't yours… Let me do it!"

There was a difference between Jiraiya and Logan taking Danzo's life.

One was internal discipline.

The other would be labeled foreign aggression.

The political fallout was obvious.

If Logan struck the final blow, he'd forever be Konoha's enemy.

Jiraiya was trying to spare him that.

Behind Jiraiya, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, was approaching fast. Kakashi, Might Guy, and the rest followed closely.

"So lively tonight," Logan said.

Danzo slumped forward, impaled by the giant sword. His loyal subordinates surrounded him. His allies ran from the horizon.

All of them, reaching toward Logan—begging, commanding, threatening him not to kill Danzo.

Logan nodded slightly.

Then, he drew the Blade of Destruction out of Danzo's chest and waved his hand.

Rain formed a curtain around them, isolating them from everyone else.

Water pooled and split, forming two teacups. One floated to Danzo. The other, to Logan.

He sat cross-legged and gestured politely.

Danzo glanced at the downpour and realized he had no escape.

Grimacing, he followed Logan's lead, sat, and took the teacup.

It felt like they were back in the garden pavilion from their earlier meeting.

"I drank your tea before," Logan said. "So now I'll give you a chance."

"I'll ask. You answer."

"If I'm satisfied, you live. If not, you die. Reasonable?"

Danzo trembled. "Yes… reasonable."

Logan looked him straight in the eye.

His gaze fell to Danzo's grotesque arm of stolen Sharingan.

And he asked the question that had haunted him since he arrived in this world:

"Did you order Uchiha Itachi to massacre his clan?"

Up until now, it had only been speculation.

But Logan wanted the truth spoken aloud, for all to hear.

Danzo opened his mouth—but before he could speak, a pale, cold hand rested on his shoulder.

A white snake whispered, "Think carefully, old man."

Danzo, understanding the threat, closed his eyes and paused.

Then he spoke.

"It was me."

Logan's expression didn't change.

"What did you promise Itachi to make him go through with it?"

"Peace," Danzo said. "If the Uchiha weren't destroyed, chaos would erupt. The other villages would invade. A Fourth Ninja War was inevitable."

"I made that choice… for righteousness."

"Itachi killed his clan for peace."

Logan raised a hand to calm him. "You don't need to defend yourself."

He turned to Sasuke and Konan.

"Is that what you believe?"

Then looked to Jiraiya, Sarutobi, and Kakashi.

"Do all of you believe that?"

No one responded.

Logan stood, dispelling the rain barrier.

He walked over and gently patted Sasuke on the head.

"Let's go. I'm bored now."

Sasuke nodded, glancing one last time at the man who had haunted his nightmares.

Danzo sat slumped, the red blade mark between his eyebrows slowly dripping.

The teacup tipped from his fingers, water spilling like an offering.

Shimura Danzo killed. +1,100 soul fragments acquired.

"You killed a Konoha elder," Sarutobi's voice called from behind.

"And now you think you can just leave?"

His tone held no emotion.
