As soon as Tsunade began gently pushing chakra into me, she spoke softly.
"Ren, can you feel the chakra?"
"Yes," I nodded, "I can feel it."
"Good. Now try to move it the same way I'm moving mine—through your body. Let it flow."
I closed my eyes and focused. Slowly, I began to feel the chakra inside me—it was warm, almost alive. I followed Tsunade's instructions and circulated it throughout my body. After a full cycle, I managed to release it through my hand like a faint burst of air.
A small gust. But enough.
Tsunade's hands withdrew. She immediately pulled me into a tight hug.
I turned around and smiled.
"Thank you, Tsuna."
That was what I'd called her ever since I was six months old. She liked it so much that I never stopped. She simply called me "Ren" in return.
Tsunade ruffled my hair and reminded me,
"Keep practicing. Let your chakra flow naturally. The more cycles you do, the easier it'll become."
After that, she left the room to give me space to focus on training.
But there was one thing I hadn't told her.
The moment I awakened my chakra… I also began sensing something else. An energy—not chakra, but something more vast, more natural. It was everywhere. Around me, in the earth, in the air.
Nature Energy.
Thanks to the talent I had chosen—[Perfect Nature Attunement]—I could now sense it instinctively. Along with that, I could feel other people's chakra too. For instance, I could sense the presence of a kunoichi inside the Senju compound. Her chakra was easily five times greater than mine… and judging by her flak jacket, she was likely a chūnin.
Even though I had a large chakra reserve for my age—expected of a Senju—I wouldn't know how strong it truly was until I met other kids my age at the academy. After all, awakening chakra at the age of two wasn't exactly normal.
There was one chakra source I still couldn't sense though—Tsunade's. Her strength was still far beyond what I could perceive.
Still, I was thrilled. Not just about chakra, but about the potential. My chakra was dense, strong, and vibrant. And this strange energy—this nature energy—might one day become a major weapon in my arsenal. For now, though, I kept it to myself.
Tsunade returned a few minutes later and saw me seated cross-legged, channeling chakra through my body again. She smiled.
After I completed another full cycle, I turned to her.
"Tsuna, I think I got the hang of it. My chakra moves freely now."
She blinked, a little surprised.
"Oh? Already?"
"Yup!" I grinned.
"Want me to show you?"
"Go ahead." She crossed her arms.
I sat back down and demonstrated. With controlled breathing, I smoothly cycled chakra through my entire network. Tsunade's eyes narrowed slightly as she watched.
'His chakra control is really good for a beginner,' she thought.
I finished, then looked up at her with a smug smile.
Tsunade raised an eyebrow.
"You're already proud of something so small? When I was your age, I didn't even bother with chakra control. I jumped straight into ninjutsu!"
I smirked.
"Then teach me ninjutsu too!"
She burst into laughter.
"Not yet! I was different. You need to work on your basics first."
Then she added more seriously,
"Tomorrow, I'll teach you the fundamentals of chakra control. For now, let's go eat. Dinner's already prepared."
Before I could even respond, she picked me up and carried me to the dining room. We had a quiet meal together before heading to bed.
She slept in a separate room, and I returned to my own bed—one I'd gotten used to over the past year. I had always slept alone, and tonight was no different.
As I lay there, staring at the ceiling, my mind began to wander.
I thought about the future. The countless events that would unfold in this world… the choices I would have to make… the people I would meet… and the enemies I might have to fight.
I didn't know how everything would play out—but I was determined to be ready.
With that thought, I slowly drifted into sleep.
Tomorrow was going to be tough.
Because now that I had chakra,
training had truly begun
