That evening was filled with destruction and creation — over and over again.
I kept smashing the ground, trees, anything I could get my hands on with chakra-enhanced punches… then calmly restored it all using Earth Release and Wood Release. I had never enjoyed training this much.
By the time I was done, I had a solid grasp on Tsunade's fighting style — timing my chakra flow perfectly at the point of impact. Every strike felt more precise, more lethal.
That night, as I lay down, I couldn't wipe the grin off my face. I'd learned two of Tsunade's signature techniques in the same week. Tomorrow, I had a plan — I was going to ask her about clone jutsu.
After my usual routine of absorbing nature energy, I went to sleep like a kid waiting for his birthday.
Morning arrived, and I was up before sunrise.
After getting ready, I walked to the Academy. Shizune had gone early — her class was already ahead of mine — so I made my way alone.
Today's focus turned out to be strategy and theoretical knowledge. I was actually curious about this part. While I already knew I'd have to pass a written exam to graduate, I wasn't worried. Compared to my old world — filled with equations and boring theorems — this was child's play.
Chakra theory? Combat tactics? Shinobi history?
I could do this in my sleep.
After class ended, I tried to strike up a conversation with Kakashi, but he vanished the moment the lesson ended. No surprise there.
So I ended up hanging out with Guy and a few other students who, interestingly, were much more polite today. Guess word had spread about what happened yesterday.
By the time I got home, I was ready for phase two.
And right on cue, Tsunade handed me a scroll.
"This contains your elemental clone jutsu. Water Clone. Earth Clone. Both are C-rank. Learn them."
I nodded and began practicing right away. They weren't hard. Within a few hours, I could form them with ease. Maybe I'd use them someday for something specific, but I knew what I really wanted.
"Tsuna," I asked, raising an eyebrow.
"You got anything better?"
She smirked and tossed me another scroll.
I opened it and paused.
Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu. A-rank.
My grin stretched across my face.
I got to work immediately.
It didn't take long. My chakra reserves were massive. I could make fifteen clones with minimal effort and dispel them to regain the chakra and memories. This would be insanely useful for accelerated training.
But just as I was getting the hang of it, Tsunade came back — holding one more scroll.
"Here," she said.
"This one's special."
When I unrolled it, I almost couldn't believe it.
Wood Clone Jutsu. A-rank. Hashirama's personal clone technique.
"You're ready," Tsunade said softly.
"Only a true Wood Release user can perform this. Try it."
I took a deep breath, focused my chakra, and willed it to shape itself.
The clone emerged from my body — not from smoke or illusion, but from actual wood. Its structure was solid, life-like, and completely identical to me. It moved like me. Felt like me.
This wasn't a clone.
This was a second me.
Over the next hour, I experimented.
I sent one clone far away and was still able to communicate with it telepathically. I merged another into a tree and was able to see and hear everything through the trees in the area.
Even better? The clone could take actual damage — and heal from it by absorbing chakra from the environment. We even sparred. It kept up with me perfectly.
And when I finally dispelled them, I got everything — experience, muscle memory, awareness. No wasted effort.
This… is the ultimate clone technique.
I decided right then — I'd only rely on Shadow Clones and Wood Clones from now on. Shadow for speed and deception. Wood for power and utility.
Tsunade returned to the training ground and watched me work.
She didn't say anything for a while. Just stared, her eyes shimmering.
And then — she walked up to me and hugged me.
Tightly.
No words. Just warmth. A soft tremble in her arms.
When she pulled back, I saw the gentle tears in her eyes.
"You don't know how happy it makes me," she whispered,
"to see Wood Release again. To see the Senju legacy live on."
Then she smiled — a genuine, heartfelt smile — and patted my head like she used to when I was little.
"Go to sleep, Ren."
Still stunned from the hug, I walked to my room like a zombie. The warmth of her body still lingered on mine. A grin — stupid and wide, same like yesterday — spread across my face, and I couldn't stop it.
Author's Note:
Ren now has access to Wood Clones — a technique only a handful in history have ever mastered. His bond with Tsunade is deepening, and his strength is becoming terrifying. But what happens when the village starts noticing?
