Three months passed. I completed three more missions—simple ones, all around D-rank and C-rank. Nothing difficult, just minor assignments inside and near the village. They didn't push me much, but they kept me sharp.
During that time, I finally mastered the Great Tree Binding Spear Jutsu. It felt good to tick it off the list.
Now, I was working on my next target—
**Wood Style Hidden Jutsu: Deep Forest Emergence – A-Rank.**
As the name suggests, it summons a large forest from the ground, and the entire terrain becomes an extension of the user's will. It's powerful, overwhelming, and can change the battlefield completely. A perfect tool for someone like me, who manipulates the field and restricts movement.
One afternoon, while I was training with shadow clones in the training ground, I heard the lab door open behind me. Before I could even turn around, I heard the sound of fast footsteps.
I turned—and Tsunade came running toward me. Her face was glowing with joy.
Before I could even ask anything, she threw her arms around me in a hug.
My mind blanked for a moment—her chest was pressed right into my face. While she was genuinely excited about something, I couldn't help but enjoy the moment with a stupid grin. Tsunade noticed, blushed slightly, and quickly pushed me away with mock irritation.
"Idiot," she muttered, trying to hide her flustered expression.
Then she smiled brightly and said, "Ren, Ren! I've finally completed my experiments! I'm so happy today. Let's go out for dinner!"
For a moment, I thought this might be a date. My heart sped up a little.
Then she added, "I'll also call Shizune."
Yeah… there went that fantasy. I felt a little deflated, but still happy for her.
Shizune had moved into the main house two months ago. Of course, she stayed in a separate room. Most of her time was spent at the hospital, fulfilling her duties as a medic-nin. I usually saw her only around dinner time, same as Tsunade.
Curious, I asked Tsunade what her completed jutsu was.
"Don't worry," she said, "I'll show you."
Then she calmly extended her arm toward me. "Cut it."
I blinked. "Wait, what?"
"I said cut it. Just do it," she insisted, calm and confident.
I didn't want to. But I trusted her. Her tone and her eyes told me she wasn't taking this lightly.
So I summoned a wooden spear from my arm. Tsunade relaxed her body in preparation, and I swung with precision, slicing her entire arm off cleanly.
It fell to the ground—but there was no blood.
Her wound had already begun healing, and even more incredibly, the severed arm started to lift off the ground, as if preparing to reattach itself.
Before it could, Tsunade said, "Destroy it."
I used a thick wooden root to grab the arm and bury it deep underground.
After that, the open wound on her shoulder bubbled, and in a matter of seconds—a brand-new arm had regenerated fully.
Then she hardened the arm and focused her chakra into it.
"Attack again," she said.
Now understanding the demonstration, I used my full strength to strike with another wooden spear. It sank into her arm, leaving a deep gash—but it healed instantly.
I stood still for a moment, letting that sink in.
She'd improved not just regeneration—but defense too.
Tsunade looked at me and spoke, full of pride.
"I've drastically improved my ultimate jutsu—**Creation Rebirth**.
"I can now recover from nearly any wound and regenerate any part of my body… as long as I have chakra. Unless my heart is pierced or my head is completely severed, I can survive.
"And thanks to your natural energy flowing into me daily… my body has recovered far beyond expectations. My life force is stronger than ever—overflowing with youthful energy. My physique is much tougher now. Unless someone is absurdly strong, they won't be able to pierce my defenses.
"My chakra reserves inside the Yin Seal have also expanded drastically. I can store a huge amount of chakra now.
"And finally—this is the most important part—I no longer lose any life force when using this jutsu. I only expend chakra. That was the main goal of my experiment—to substitute life force with chakra. It took close to a year… but now it's done. And I'm really, really happy."
After saying that, she stepped closer and planted a light kiss on my cheek.
"Thank you, Ren. For everything."
I stood there stunned, my hand frozen mid-air. That… was unexpected. But I felt a quiet happiness inside. Not just because of the kiss—but because she'd made it. She was whole again.
Then I created a five-layered wooden dome to test her strength.
"Hit me with full power," I said.
Tsunade didn't hesitate. She surged her chakra, cracked her knuckles, used her chakra-enhanced strength, and hit the dome with everything she had.
* The first two layers shattered like glass.
* The third one cracked, slowing her down—but it gave way.
* The fourth layer put up more resistance—but eventually broke.
* The fifth layer finally held.
I was shocked.
I'd estimated she'd break maybe three layers. But she broke through four.
That kind of raw power put her in an elite category of people who are currently active, like:
The Third Tsuchikage, Onoki, with his Atomic Dust Release,
The Third Raikage, with his One-Finger Hell Stab,
A Tailed Beast Bomb,
The Uchiha's Susanoo,
Might Duy, if he opened any gate beyond the sixth
And now—Tsunade.
If I ever dropped my guard… I'd lose.
"We'll keep absorbing natural energy," I told her. "It'll help you stay in peak condition—and improve you even more over time."
Tsunade nodded, smiling. "Of course. We'll keep going."
We trained a little more until evening.
Later, Tsunade, Shizune, and I went out for dinner. It was relaxed. Comfortable. We laughed more than usual.
After returning home, I pushed a little nature energy into Tsunade again—something I did daily now. Even though she'd recovered, it continued to nourish her, enhancing both her body and her life force.
Then we all headed to our own rooms.
I sat in mine, letting nature energy slowly settle in me as well… and finally, after a fulfilling and peaceful day—
I fell asleep.
