When Ning Rongrong returned, she was slightly out of breath, as if afraid Han Feng would change his mind. She quickly completed the registration and handed a bronze badge to Han Feng, then carefully stored her own in her soul guide device with solemn care.
Han Feng, on the other hand, didn't think much of it and casually slipped his badge into his pocket.
He certainly wasn't going to tell Dai Mubai and the others that he already had a Gold Duel Spirit Badge from the Stan City Grand Arena. If he hadn't gotten bored at the end, even Amethyst or Diamond Badges wouldn't have been out of reach.
Was Han Feng ridiculously powerful? Not exactly. When he had just reached the Soul Master rank, his strength still couldn't compare to veterans who'd been grinding at that level for eight or nine years. But in reality, people were just giving face—to his father. After all, Han Feng was the son of the Grand Arena director. Soul Masters without much talent who wanted to earn a living there knew better than to cross him.
"Seriously!? Can't you take care of it properly? "
Ning Rongrong pouted at Han Feng's casual attitude—this was their first team badge, after all. How could he be so indifferent?
Han Feng frowned slightly. "It's just for a single—"
Before he could finish, Dai Mubai cut him off, sensing trouble:
"It's just a bronze badge! With Feng's strength, we'll be changing it soon anyway. No big deal! "
Han Feng clicked his tongue and glanced at Dai Mubai's twitching eyes—he found it both funny and puzzling but didn't bother explaining.
Ning Rongrong frowned, murmuring softly, "Still… this is…"
Even Han Feng, standing closest, didn't catch her last words.
But before he could ask, a voice echoed from the broadcast system:
"Now commencing the two-versus-two match! Please welcome the debut of the 'Blazing Treasure' duo versus the returning 'Venomous Vixens'! "
"Oooohhh!"
The crowd exploded in cheers, wave after wave of excitement.
But of course, those cheers weren't for Han Feng and Ning Rongrong—they were for the Venomous Vixens. That duo was already well-known in the arena. They weren't especially powerful, but they were gorgeous, and that was enough.
The "Vixens" were a pair of sisters. Though not quite as stunning as Ning Rongrong or Qian Renxue, they were still beautiful. Their martial spirits—a snake and a scorpion—both specialized in poison. One was an assault type, the other an agility type.
Hearing their team name called, Han Feng no longer felt like asking Ning Rongrong questions. "Let's go," he said.
"Wait for me! " Ning Rongrong quickly followed.
When they stepped onto the stage, Han Feng was completely calm—it wasn't his first time facing a crowd like this. Ning Rongrong, however, looked nervous and could only feel safe by staying close to Han Feng.
Across from them stood two tall women in their twenties, both wearing high-slit qipao that left little to the imagination—it was clearly intentional.
Han Feng frowned. He didn't care for this kind of flirtatious type, though since he didn't know them, he didn't harbor any real dislike either.
"Hehe~ Looks like we got lucky today—fresh meat! "
"Hey there, little brother~ That girl next to you's got no curves at all. How about this—give up the match, and we'll play house with you tonight~"
One of the women winked seductively at Han Feng, her voice dripping with honey, drawing laughter and hoots from the crowd.
For true newbies, such an overwhelming atmosphere could crush their fighting spirit. But Han Feng had fought in Stan City—he'd seen streakers and worse. A little trash talk? That was nothing.
Ning Rongrong was clearly angry, but not worried. She trusted Han Feng would help her reclaim their pride.
And sure enough, Han Feng's personality wasn't one to let insults slide.
"Aunties, did a toad pee on your heads last night and fry your brains? Or is your sugar daddy diabetic, and you just got addicted to his sweet talk? Honestly, with faces like yours, you'd need a few medical conditions to get anyone interested. I know a good dentist—mention my name, and you won't get a discount, but they'll at least check your rotting teeth! "
Then he added, mock-sincerely:
"And don't worry, I won't charge you commission."
"You little—! "
"You're dead! "
Han Feng didn't hold back. In fact, he deliberately raised his voice so the entire arena could hear him. The two women were furious, eyes flashing red with killing intent. With a flash of light, a snake and a scorpion spirit appeared, each bearing one white and three yellow spirit rings, and they lunged toward Han Feng.
In the stands, Oscar and Ma Hongjun were stunned. They had never seen Han Feng's venomous tongue in action before. Dai Mubai's eyes widened with a strange mix of admiration and envy.
"If only I had a mouth like that back then…"
"You'd have been beaten to death," Zhu Zhuqing said flatly from behind him, deflating Dai Mubai completely.
"This could get tricky…" Tang San's expression grew serious. Seeing the others glance his way, he explained:
"Han Feng and Ning Rongrong are a defense-type and a support-type—neither has strong offensive power. Their opponents, however, are assault and agility types. If they manage to break through Han Feng's defense, Rongrong's in serious danger."
"No matter how strong Han Feng is, he can't defend against two people at once. If the Venomous Vixens split up, they could wear him down until he collapses."
"Unless… Han Feng abandons Ning Rongrong from the start."
Dai Mubai and the others frowned—they knew Tang San was right. And Dai Mubai also knew that Han Feng was pragmatic enough to make that choice if it meant victory. If that happened, all his effort matchmaking today would go to waste.
"If he dares do that, Xiao Wu will beat him up! "Xiao Wu huffed, raising her little fists toward the stage in protest.
"Xiao Wu, behave," Tang San chuckled awkwardly, quickly pulling her back and apologizing to the group.
Back in the arena, seeing the two women charging straight at them, Han Feng smiled slightly and calmly said to Ning Rongrong:
"Stay right there. Just focus on boosting me."
"Okay!"
Ning Rongrong nodded firmly. The Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda appeared, and two spirit rings lit up—one for strength, one for speed—both directed at Han Feng. Instantly, his aura surged.
Seeing the pagoda, the two attacking women faltered and exchanged a quick glance—they clearly had a twin-like synchronization and instantly adjusted their tactics.
Meanwhile, Han Feng grinned and charged directly at the scorpion-user.
"Roar!"
The Blazing Sky Shield appeared. Flames erupted from Han Feng's body, enveloping him. His spirit rings flickered as he charged like a rampaging bull.
"Hah! A defense-type with a support-type partner trying to duel? How stupid can you be? "
The scorpion soul master sneered. Her first spirit ring lit up, transforming her hands into venomous purple pincers.
Her second spirit skill was pure poison—but against Han Feng's flames, it was ineffective. So she poured her energy into the first skill instead, causing the pincers to double in size and slam into the Blazing Shield!
When the pincers struck, flames exploded. The Sunfire effect triggered, surging along the pincers toward the scorpion user.
She had never encountered such a technique before. Her eyes widened, and she leapt back in panic—but the Sunfire clung to her like a parasite, chasing her down.
Panic set in—she could feel the heat was enough to burn her down.
Still, she didn't show fear. As she dodged, she flashed Han Feng a mocking smile.
In the stands, Dai Mubai suddenly stood up.
"Feng! Behind you! "
While Han Feng was locked in battle, the snake-user had already snuck around behind him—targeting Ning Rongrong!
As a support-type, Ning Rongrong had no chance of outrunning an agility-type.
The snake-user's eyes were full of malice and killing intent. She didn't recognize the value of Ning Rongrong's martial spirit—she just knew Han Feng had humiliated them, and Ning Rongrong was the weak link.
She could be eliminated instantly.
