Chapter 6

ASHER'S POV

I stared out of my room's window as I reminisced about the previous night I had with Cassie.

Of course, I know who she was.

Although I didn't plan to have her drugged but then the Moon goddess made everything work my way.

That was a step to going close to her.

"Alpha, you called for me?" My beta, Mark asked from behind me.

"Yes, I did. How is the pack holding on without me?" I asked, still staring out of the window.

"Everyone is doing fine, Alpha. We haven't encountered rogues in a while, which is good." He said, and I nodded.

"That's good. I guess after the last warning we gave them, they backed off, " I muttered, and I could feel him nod.

"Alpha, what do you plan on doing about Miss Cassie?" He asked, and I smirked.

"I believe the lines will always fall in place by itself," I replied.

"What if she forgets about you, or you do not have any chances or excuses to get closer to her?" He questioned, and I ignored him.

I could feel his worries, but tailing her just to get close to her is not my thing.

A ding sounded on my phone, and I checked to see a notification from Cassie's social media account.

"Speak of the devil, and she appears!" I muttered with a smirk as I scrolled through my phone.

"See, I told you! Lines will fall in their place. I didn't even need to stress myself," I said, showing him the notification, and he chuckled.

"So you are going to volunteer to be her fake boyfriend?" He asked, and I scoffed.

"What do you think? Of course I'm going to be her real boyfriend! How else am I going to get to her?

We have slept with each other already, I don't think there is anything else we need to explore within ourselves that we haven't explored." I muttered.

"I can't believe you gave your first night to an omega just for your plans. That's crazy man!" He joked, and I frowned.

"This is kind of funny, but her scent is addicting. At first, I thought she was my mate."

"Impossible, how can the moon goddess give you an omega for a mate?" He muttered, stifling a laugh, and I frowned.

"I don't think I said anything funny to warrant you to laugh?" I asked, still frowning, and he laughed nervously.

Making an imaginary zip line on his lips.

"In a few hours, I have a banquet to attend, prepare for it. Remember, do not blow our cover.

"For now, we are just ordinary rogues!" I ordered, and he nodded, heading out.

'Little rabbit, see you soon!' I thought with a smirk on my face as I returned to my previous position.

********

It's a few minutes past six pm, and I sat on my recliner, not in a rush to leave at any moment.

"Alpha, the party is starting in a few minutes. Aren't you supposed to show up tonight?" Mark asked, staring at me in a strange way.

I ignored him, calmly staring out the window.

"Don't tell me you are planning on ditching her tonight? That will ruin your plans. If she gets engaged to another tonight, what about your plans?" He continued, and I growled angrily.

"You know, if you keep quiet and not keep blabbing your mouth, no one will consider you a mute?" I said, irritated by his frequent questions.

"But, the drive from here to the pack house is at least an hour. How are you going to go about it?" He questioned, and I sighed.

"None of your business, Mark! Prepare the car, we leave in forty minutes, " I ordered, and I heard him gasp.

"How..." I interrupted him with a growl, and he laughed nervously.

"I will go get ready," he mumbled, walking out of the room, and I sighed in relief.

Total silence!

In a blink of an eye, forty minutes were over and we headed for the pack house where the engagement party was being held.

"Oh dear moon goddess, I really hope Miss Cassie is still single by the time we get there!" Mark mumbled, staring at me through the corners of his eyes and I glared at him.

"You know, you speak too much to be considered a man." I muttered and he gasped dramatically causing me to roll my eyes.

"How dare you accuse me of being gay? I have a mate you know and she is with children! The only single pringle in this vehicle is you! " He retorted.

"You..." I halted and he stuck out his tongue at me causing me to smile slightly.

Mark and I met when I was just banished from my pack by my own father.

He was attacked by multiple rogues and I rescued him, since then we became friends.

He introduced me to his pack and I began to stay with them.

When their Alpha died without leaving an heir behind, a contest was held amongst the male wolves to determine the next heir.

I was never interested in such but Mark signed me up without my permission and cajoled me to try it out.

I did try it out and I was lucky to pass all of the test, I was then made the Alpha and I selected Mark to be my Beta.

Mark might sound childish or speak a lot but he is one stone cold man around unknown people.

Finally, the car pulled up in front of the pack house and we arrived just in time for the engagement to be announced.

I heard Cassie's voice and I sucked in a deep breath.

I shouldn't get distracted by her!

I heard people refuting her words and I knew that it was time for me to step in.

I stepped out of the car and ordered Mark to leave from sight to avoid suspicion.

I walked into the hall and I smirked on seeing Cassie looking frustrated and speechless.

I whispered to the nearest waiter with a tip in hand and he helped me get a microphone.

"I am the so-called lover you all are requesting for!" I revealed and the hall fell silent as everyone turned around to find the source of the voice.

Cassie gasped on sighting me and I smirked.

"We meet again, Little rabbit!" I muttered with a smirk on my face.
