God?
There was absolutely no way that they were being serious.
"I need to get out of here soon, how would I explain this to the guys? Heck how do I even explain this to myself?"
They seemed so unphased by the fact that he was clearly in distress.
"Listen to me, as much as I'd love to indulge whatever this is, I really need to go back to where I came from, I have people waiting for me."
None of them seemed to be listening to anything that he was saying.
"We've waited for so many years to herald your awakening and finally, that day came."
"But this whole thing you speak of, I do not understand any of it. I've been sorely mistaken for someone else. There should be a way to get back to where I came from, so if you can be kind enough to help me out, I'd sincerely appreciate it."
He looked at their faces hoping that they could perceive his earnest request but they all seemed unmoved and unconvinced.
"Years ago, after the Great War, there was a prophecy that you would finally come back to the realm of Elixus, maybe a few things changed but we your followers would recognize your presence from any where, regardless of the time line."
This was obviously a dream, there was no way that this was actually happening. Maybe he was dreaming, or he had stared at the screen a bit too long and somehow passed out from the strain. Yes, that was it, there was no other explanation to this.
The medallion on his chest began glowing and that wasn't helping his situation at all because they all seemed even more convinced that he was some god that somehow spawned back to life.
"Azrael calls to you, you must answer your destiny."
"I dont think you honestly get what I've been trying to tell you this entire time, there's no Azrael, there's just me Isaiah and I must have spawned here by mistake somehow. This Azrael you speak of must be some kind of myth. I don't even know why I'm interacting with you people, I should be finding a way out of this place."
"Do not insult the existence of Azrael, if you are here then it means the realm has chosen you to fulfill a particular purpose and like we said before, we can tell that you are Azrael."
There was no winning to this. What was he going to do now?
"Come with us."
Hell no! There was absolutely no way he was going to follow a bunch of weird people to God knows where, it was bad enough that he's in a place he doesn't even know.
"There's no need for me to, I'm honestly asking nicely, there's nothing to see here, I'm not the guy you're looking for."
The medallion started glowing again and this time he felt a slight pain in his chest.
"He comes to you, you must accept him."
The guy who seemed to be their leader still didn't understand him and it was starting to get annoying.
"Please listen to me, I promise I do not have any thing, I do not have any powers. How do I make you understand?"
The medallion started glowing even more.
"Isaiah…" he heard a voice and he could have sworn it didn't come from any of the men that were standing there.
So now he was hearing things too? There was no way this could go on.
"Alright, it's time to wake up now, maybe if I shook myself a bit, I'd wake up back in the real world. The only logical explanation for this occurrence has to be psychosis, or maybe I've become schizophrenic due to my obsession with this character. Yes, that's it"
They all still stood and watched him like he was insane.
He started picking up stones to use on himself. He picked one up and used the tip to pierce his skin but still nothing. He found a small stick and picked it as well.
All the while, none of the guys seemed surprised. They just stared at him, that was when his eyes came across a sizeable rock and the idea struck him.
He made to reach for it but it moved and in a split second, the rock shattered into dust. He stopped dead in his movement to fully process what the hell had happened.
He rubbed his eyes, "There's no way that was actually real. Did you see that?" He said asking as if they were supposed to have the same reaction as him but none of them seemed phased.
"Azrael is working through you, you should let yourself go."
This was the most Isaiah had ever felt frustrated. Usually people hardly listened to him in his own world but the fact that nothing he did was working out was slowly making him lose it.
Maybe if he played along with this, they'd realize that he was an actual loser who didn't have any type of powers or appeal.
"Okay, let's assume you happen to be right about this Azrael guy, how are so convinced that I am who you say I am? I'm sure this Azrael guy would have some really amazing powers right? What if I showed you that I do not have any of those, would that be convincing enough?"
The guy that seemed like he was their leader chuckled. "You truly underestimate the powers of Azrael but of course, the field is yours to demonstrate."
"So what am I supposed to do?"
"Anything, you can make the ground sprout flowers and lush greenery. If you truly are Azrael, it would recognize the voice of the master and sprout from the essence of your powers."
"Fine then."
Isaiah closed his eyes and instinctively began chanting, there was this consuming feeling within… and something else. The medallion glowed again and then, there was a soft sound, a little wind…
