Meanwhile Jack and Alice stood outside Old Man Wong's house, hesitating. They had been wanting to visit him for weeks, but they couldn't seem to muster up the courage. Jack had heard that Old Man Wong was a former Mech pilot, and he was eager to learn more about his experiences.
"Jack, are you not going to knock?" Alice asked, looking at him expectantly. She was wearing a bright yellow jacket and her hair was tied back in a ponytail.
Jack shrugged. "Why don't you knock?" he replied, nodding towards her. He was wearing a faded t-shirt and jeans, and his red hair was messy from the wind.
Alice raised an eyebrow. "Because it was your idea to come here," she said, a hint of amusement in her voice. "You're the one who's been raving about Old Man Wong will teach you how to be a Mechpilot."
Jack sighed, deciding to take the initiative. However, before he could knock, a voice called out from behind them. "If you're done with what you're doing, then excuse me."
Startled, Jack and Alice turned around, apologizing profusely for obstructing the way. The old man smiled and nodded, inviting them into his home.
As they entered the house, Old Man Wong greeted them warmly. "You both are the kids who helped me fix my car, aren't you?" he asked, his eyes twinkling with recognition.
Jack and Alice nodded in unison, and Old Man Wong smiled. "So, what are you waiting for? Come in."
They followed Old Man Wong into his living room, where they were surrounded by all sorts of curious objects. There were old photographs on the walls, and a collection of rare books on a shelf. Jack's eyes widened as he took in the sights.
"Please, have a seat," Old Man Wong said, gesturing to a pair of worn armchairs. "I'll get us some tea."
As Old Man Wong disappeared into the kitchen, Jack and Alice exchanged a look. They were both excited and nervous, unsure of what to expect.
"What do you think he's going to tell us?" Alice whispered, her eyes shining with curiosity.
"I don't know," Jack replied, "but I'm sure it'll be interesting."
Old Man Wong returned with a tray of steaming hot tea, and they sat down to talk.
