Chapter Forty-four

I’d been in my parents’ home for nearly two weeks before it was announced that Dr. Robinson would be arriving to the apartment. Despite the fact that entertaining my own family in my suite was improper, I was informed by Phyllis that the psychiatrist would be brought to me before dinner. The last time I’d been beyond these four rooms was the disastrous dinner with Uncle Dante. While the dinner had been ruinous, the night taught me how far the men in my family were willing to go to complete their agreement.

I had no means to do research, but since that night when Uncle Dante mentioned guardianship, I’d given it and conservatorship plenty of thought. There would need to be a court order; however, the psychiatrist’s statement would be a critical piece of evidence.
