Dante Dellinger showed every bit of his age as we faced off within his executive office. I was the only one with a gun drawn as the electricity of our unexpected encounter crackled through the air.

“How did you get in here?” he asked as I closed his office door.

We were high in the sky in one of the top floors of Dellinger Corporation, the same ones Cecilia told me about. She’d told me all the measures they’d taken to stop unwanted intruders and beef up their security. That information was how we both knew her abduction was an inside job. What she hadn’t realized was that her descriptions gave me enough information to thwart the system. My intrusion wouldn’t go undetected for long. I’d undoubtedly activated their bots, but that was all right. I wasn’t looking for a prolonged length of time. Their systems would assume this was a cybersecurity breach. That assumption would give me the time I needed.
