The DM world immediately returned to silence. In contrast, the 5DS, ZEXAL, and later worlds were all looking forward to this so-called HERO deck.
If the previous Blue-Eyes deck was a high-attack, high-level beatdown deck, then what they wanted to see now from the HERO archetype was a different kind of unique and charming combo-heavy deck. But given the sheer number of sub-archetypes, they had to remain calm and think rationally.
After all, even in the VRAINS world, the most modern era, they never dared to put so many different archetypes into a single deck!
...
5DS World
"Yusei! What do you make of this 'HERO' thing?" Crow Hogan rubbed his chin and turned to look at Yusei. "With so many archetypes, can they really work well together?"
"I'm not sure," Yusei replied distractedly, rubbing his own chin. "You know that every deck has infinite possibilities. Don't my Stardust and Synchron decks fit well together? It's really hard to say with this HERO deck."
Seeing this, his desire to see what his own Stardust and Synchron decks looked like in that advanced world grew even stronger. Could it be that Stardust Dragon had no future? No. Stardust Dragon must have a future. And so must the Synchrons!
"He's right, multiple archetypes are normal," Akiza said, adopting an optimistic attitude towards the HERO deck. "Like Jack's deck, his Red Dragon Archfiend deck also includes some other cards. I have a good feeling about this archetype."
This made Jack and Crow shut their mouths and re-evaluate their initial impressions.
...
VRAINS World
Yusaku Fujiki's eyes gleamed. What he noticed wasn't the multiple archetypes, but that the Extra Deck of this deck actually included many Link Monsters! This archetype could actually incorporate products of their Link era!
"Hey! Interesting, interesting!" Skye Zaizen pointed playfully at the few Link Monsters in the HERO Extra Deck. "Link HEROes? So this archetype can also use Links! And this build also runs Maxx 'C' and Ash Blossom? Hehehe! This is so interesting!"
Even Revolver looked at the HERO deck with surprise. Link Summoning represented the summoning method of the newest technological era. If HEROes could incorporate Links, then they had to be re-evaluated.
"Hahaha! I really like this archetype!" The Gore, a.k.a. Go Onizuka, laughed heartily, holding his own ace Gouki deck. "My Goukis are itching for a duel!" As a deck with extremely strong Special Summoning capabilities and terrifying Link-based offensive pressure, Gouki was a very intimidating force in their world.
"It's starting," Soulburner, a.k.a. Takeru Homura, said coolly. "Let's keep watching."
The image on the big screen flashed and began to play, showing the Master Duel interface.
...
The Noble Shadow HERO Player: "Hello, ladies and gentlemen of the audience! Today, I'm bringing you an introduction to the HERO system."
The Noble Shadow HERO Player: "I believe that as a fan-favorite deck, HERO has a large following, so I won't beat around the bush. After looking at the decklist, let's start with a few standard HERO opening plays."
The Noble Shadow HERO Player: "First, Play 1, a very desperate play for when you have a brick hand."
As soon as he finished speaking, the first HERO play appeared on the screen.
"Activate Spell Card! A Hero Lives!"
"According to the effect of A Hero Lives, if I control no face-up monsters, I can pay half my LP to activate it. I Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower 'Elemental HERO' monster from my deck."
"So, here, I'll just Special Summon Elemental HERO Shadow Mist!"
"Because one of Shadow Mist's effects is that if this card is Special Summoned, I can add 1 'Change' Quick-Play Spell from my Deck to my hand."
"Here, I'll choose to search for Mask Change."
"Then, I'll use Mask Change to bring out Masked HERO Dark Law."
[Card Name: Masked HERO Dark Law (Level 6)]
[Attribute: DARK]
[Type: Warrior]
[ATK/DEF: 2400/1800]
"That's right, that's Play 1. If you have Spells or Traps, just set them. If you have hand traps, try to disrupt the opponent with them. For example, Ash Blossom, Maxx 'C', and the like."
It was a simple play that any duelist beyond a beginner could understand. And it came at the cost of a massive loss of Life Points!
Yet, no duelist dared to question the validity of this play! Not just because it was a play made from a bad hand or after being disrupted, but because of the monster on the field: Dark Law!
That's right! This Masked HERO Dark Law was just too powerful!
Effect 1: Any card sent to your opponent's GY is banished instead.
What did banishment mean? Every duelist understood, even those from the DM world! As long as the opponent's strategy didn't involve the banished zone, this effect was a one-way ticket to a different dimension, slaughtering any Graveyard-reliant deck and even regular decks! As long as you couldn't get rid of it, any resource you sent to the Graveyard would be banished instead! Trying to make a comeback would be a slow suicide!
The Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck from the previous video would be crying its eyes out if it saw this card on the field!
Effect 2: Once per turn, if your opponent adds a card(s) from their Deck to their hand (except during the Draw Phase): You can banish 1 random card from their hand.
A powerful effect that countered searching! Even if it was only once per turn, the ability to randomly banish a card from the hand was a massive disruption!
GX World
Jaden Yuki was numb! Aster Phoenix was numb! The other teachers, professors, and students were also numb! This hodgepodge HERO deck... it wasn't so simple after all, was it?
An Elemental HERO had led into a Masked HERO! So! The mix of archetypes wasn't an accident after all!
