In the minds of all the duelists, a deck was supposed to have a certain ratio of Monster Cards, Spell Cards, and Trap Cards. A deck couldn't be all monsters, nor could it be all Spells. And it certainly couldn't be all Traps!
At least, that's what the duelists from the first few eras of dueling believed. If a deck was all Traps, what was the point of playing? What kind of strength could a deck like that possibly have?

The duelists, who had already communicated with Yusei Hoshi, were now looking at the Eldlich archetype, a deck that was seventy percent Trap cards. Many of them were starting to think that Yusei was deliberately showing them a garbage deck. Who builds a deck with so many Traps? What was even more absurd was the incredibly low monster count! Could a system like this actually be effective?
"Two-thirds of the deck are Trap cards," Yugi Muto frowned, beginning his assessment. "This archetype is quite interesting. So, it primarily relies on Trap cards for disruption? The question is, what kind of offensive power can the monsters have? To win, you can't rely on Traps alone."
After all, he himself was a semi-degenerate player who enjoyed using battle traps. His deck was filled with interesting "red cards." But he knew full well that Traps were just support; the main engine had to be the monsters.
"Yugi, since it's called 'Eldlich,' does that mean the card they're running three copies of, Eldlich the Golden Lord, is the most important?" Téa Gardner observed carefully. "Well, anyway, let's just wait and see what the video blogger has to say. It seems like there's something to this." In the multiple decklists shown, she had noticed that Eldlich the Golden Lord seemed to be a mandatory inclusion.

"Mamma Mia!" Professor Crowler immediately started a triumphant rant. "What in the world is this build? This professor gives it a zero! I'll be honest, this archetype would get steamrolled by my Ancient Gear Golem!"
The surrounding students and teachers actually believed Professor Crowler's words without a doubt. Not just because he was a professor, but more importantly, because Ancient Gear Golem was immune to Spells and Traps during the Battle Phase! That's right! The sheer power of that battle-phase lockdown! Professor Crowler had crushed countless degenerate decks with it! Against this Eldlich deck, he really did seem to have the advantage!
"Hmph! So they like to stall and disrupt?" Zane sneered, also looking at the Eldlich deck with cold eyes. "I hate these kinds of decks the most. But my Cyber Dragons aren't afraid either! When it comes to crushing degenerate strategies, Cyber End Dragon and Power Bond will teach them a lesson." As the successor of the Cyber Style, he had used Cyber Dragons to crush plenty of degenerate decks. So, faced with Eldlich's sea of backrow, he was fearlessly confident.

Yusei Fudo, however, had a completely different attitude from the previous two worlds. Looking at the all-backrow build, he actually had the thought of not wanting to duel this deck at all!
"Synchro summoning is most afraid of disruption," Jack Atlas said, taking a deep breath and sharing his understanding. "After all, it requires a Tuner and a non-Tuner. This archetype... is going to be tough to deal with." And that was the truth. If a Synchro play was disrupted by a facedown card or the Tuner was removed, they would immediately be put on the back foot.
"No rush, let's just watch and see," Leo said, pointing to the large screen on his Duel Runner. "Eldlich the Golden Lord is being explained now. Let's listen."
Sure enough, the video blogger, "I Want to be an Eldlich Master," had begun his explanation.
...
I Want to be an Eldlich Master: "Alright, now that you've seen the basic build and what cards to run, let's explain the key ace card of the deck!"
I Want to be an Eldlich Master: "Eldlich the Golden Lord!!!"
[Card Name: Eldlich the Golden Lord (Level 10)]
[Attribute: LIGHT]
[Type: Zombie]
[ATK/DEF: 2500/2800]
As the card appeared, its two simple effects entered the duelists' view.
Effect 1: You can send this card and 1 Spell/Trap from your hand to the GY, then target 1 card on the field; send it to the GY. (A simple and powerful non-destruction removal that sends to the grave! But, it does target!)
Effect 2: If this card is in your GY: You can send 1 Spell/Trap you control to the GY; add this card to your hand. Then, you can Special Summon 1 Zombie monster from your hand, and if you do, it gains 1000 ATK/DEF and cannot be destroyed by card effects, until the end of your opponent's turn.
"It has built-in recovery and a built-in Special Summon."
"And the summoned monster gets an ATK/DEF boost and effect destruction immunity."
"Now here's where it gets interesting!"
"Have you noticed? This card sends itself to the grave to clear the board, and then it can recover itself. Both effects can be used once per turn."
"Have you noticed the terrifying synergy?"
As the blogger's voice fell, the duelists across the six worlds savored the details and revealed expressions of profound horror! This card! It was so bizarre! Or rather... this card's effects were just disgustingly good!!!
