Chapter 4: The Highest, Alpha

Powerful. Graceful. Majestic.

Those are the things that can describe the Alpha. Her beauty and features were sculpted with an almost ethereal perfection.

She walks gently and slowly, each step screams elegance and authority with those platinum silver and soft wavy hair flows in perfect waves.

Her porcelain skin glowed like moonlight, it was soft and smooth. She's shining, radiating as if she wasn't real, it was dreamlike and unearthly.

No one can directly stare with her golden slit pupils and almond-shaped eyes, as if looking at those eyes can be deadly and can cause them a major defeat.

She reached the front center, gracefully standing tall and looking at them.

No noise can be heard throughout the hall. Just their nervous heartbeat, their mind and soul screaming in the presence of the Alpha.

Her lips curved, it was soft and serene, it was noble and warm. It softened the air around them, vanishing any kind of tension.

"You can sit down," she spoke with warmth. "Valen is okay for now. I used the magma stone to stabilize his energy," she softly continued, smiling and giving certainty. "He's a Gamma, for the meantime."

They shockingly looked at Alpha, yet immediately took back their stares, realizing that they cannot withstand the eyes of the Alpha. "We are deeply touched by your kindness, Your Majesty."

She gently chuckles upon witnessing the reaction of her officials. "I heard about what happened, and looking at those scrolls," she said, looking at the arcane scrolls on the table. "You already have some actions to do?"

Mr. Fynn stood up, facing the direction of the Alpha yet still bowing his head. "Allow me to summarize the things we talked about, Your Majesty," he asked for permission.

The Alpha gently nodded, though Mr. Fynn just sensed it, he continued summarizing.

Alpha smiled… but the air changed. The previous smile that made the air soften vanishes. Tension in the air is building up.

Mr. Fynn was stiff, not moving nor even trying to take a chance to sit down.

They knew and felt it, they screwed up. The air suddenly became suffocating.

"Do you realize what kind of mistake you made?" she asked, steadily and calmly.

No hint of pressure and annoyance can be heard in her tone, but the sudden change in the air says it all.

No one replied. No one bothered to answer. Not even the head council, not even the Beta.

"No one?"

"Is it about asking the former Beta, Your Majesty?" Ms. Hazel answered with a crack voice and uncertain tone.

Alpha's still smiling, gently and softly. "Are you asking me, head council of knowledge?"

Ms. Hazel swallowed hard, she knew she fucked up in questioning back the Alpha. She lowered her head even more.

"I know you are occupied, nervous, and scared about Valen's situation and about the missing fire stone," she said, her eyes softened with full understanding. "In your hearts, you carry a heavy weight of responsibility towards our people and our continent."

She softly looked at her officials, she gave a faint smile and a saddened eye with a glint of disappointment.

She gently said, "However, let's not further disturb our former Beta, they have already done a lot… sacrificed a lot. Let's give them a peaceful rest… away from any problems in this world."

A few seconds of silence fill the hall.

"You are the heads of councils for a reason. Is this all what you've got? Let's not be dependent on former officials, shall we?" she spoke, not being arrogant nor demanding but a higher one who wants the best out of her officials.

They realize it. Many lowered their heads more, some bit their lips, and few swallowed hard.

Having too much to think about, they tried to go in an easy way of disturbing the former Beta to easily solve the problem. They felt ashamed and embarrassed.

Mr. Fynn spoke, "As the head of the grand council. Allow me to apologize for not realizing and forgetting the rules, Your Majesty."

"I understand. And, I am allowing the mission about Aric," she uttered with a gentle nod.

She turned her gaze to Ms. Gale, and spoke with soft authority, "Don't you have any major problem to be addressed in the mortal world?"

Ms. Gale suddenly became tense. "Your Majesty, our council is not facing… any major problems," she replied with unsureness.

"Are you sure, Ms. Gale?"

Ms. Gale tried to open her mouth to speak, but no words came out. She's unsure and knew that further answering with doubt would make the Alpha question her ruling in the council of equilibrium.

Alpha gracefully sighed then a few seconds later, an illusion image suddenly popped up.

All of them looked at it. A familiar map showed up, it was the map of the mortal world.

They all turned into Ms. Gale upon noticing the disturbing situation in the mortal world, furrowing their brows and their eyes asking.

The map shows enormous dark spots, a sign of dark energy. Those dark spots covered almost entirely of a country, showing that an immense dark energy is being scattered.

It was frightening, horrifying, and alarming.

"Now, answer my question, Ms. Gale," Alpha seriously asked, the softness is gone.

Ms. Gale swallowed hard, a few sweats could be seen, and her face became pale. "W-we do have a major problem, Your Majesty," she whispered, embarrassed about her shortcomings.

Mr. Fynn suddenly spoke out of worryness, "This is indeed a major problem, Your Majesty. Mortal ones cannot withstand dark energy, it will lead them to death."

They looked at Ms. Gale with questioning eyes, looking for an immediate answer.

"What's happening, Ms. Gale?" Ms. Jacinta took the initiative to question her.

Ms. Gale suddenly bowed down, almost hitting her head on the table. "I apologize for any shortcomings in my performance as the head of the council of equilibrium," she humbly asked for forgiveness. "Honestly, I do not have any idea about it and I will investigate why I overlooked this situation. I promise to take action immediately."

"This is very serious, Ms. Gale. You know how crucial your position is, especially for the mortal ones." Alpha gazed at her, not with disappointed eyes but with saddened eyes. "Meet me at my office later."

Ms. Gale nodded without looking at any one of them, still feeling ashamed of what happened. It was humiliating to know a situation in the mortal world from the Alpha herself.

Alpha now turned her head to the council head of the crafts. "Mr. Rusty, can you also meet me at my office later?"

The council of the crafts are responsible and handles any businesses. Also, they are the ones who oversee and create arcane devices and infrastructures.

Mr. Rusty, who stayed quiet throughout the meeting, became anxious and rigid. In his mind, he's trying to recall anything that he might have overlooked.

Alpha softly giggles upon seeing the reaction of the man. "You didn't do anything wrong, Mr. Rusty. I need you to do something but we will talk later about it."

Mr. Rusty took a deep sighed, as if a thorn had been removed from his chest. "Noted, Your Majesty."

"Also, the clairvoyant is named Cassia, from the Aerilon Region. I am allowing the mission about her," Alpha assured them. "She's travelling right now."

"We will do something about it, Your Majesty," Mr. Fynn replied.

Alpha gently smiled and nodded, then turned her head to Aella. "I need you to go to the Sacred Chamber. I need to talk to you about something."

"I'll go after this meeting, Your Majesty." Aella smiled at the Alpha.

Alpha stood up, standing tall and chinning up. "Breathe, my children. We may have too much on our plate but do not forget to take care of yourself. I am grateful for your hard work," she stated with unwavering eyes.

All of them suddenly smiled, softening their aura and relaxing their hearts.

Alpha smiled at them and slowly faded, as if she wasn't real at the first place.

"Alpha's teleportation really amazed me. I really want to have that power, and I will teleport in a place full of… happiness," Tellus mischievously stated, chuckling at his idea.

No one gave him any attention. He's laughing by himself, alone.

Disregarding any playful tactics of Tellus. Mr. Fynn said, "As Alpha said, we cannot talk to the former Beta, so we will disregard the mission."

He turned his look to Mr. Jacob, and asked, "For the clairvoyant mission, I will give it to the Ignis Palace, if you do not mind?"

"Sure, the Ignis Palace is pleased to accept the mission given by the Grand Council." Mr. Jacob humbly accepted the mission.

Mr. Fynn stood in the front center. "All the agenda is done. I appreciate everyone's participation and suggestions. The council meeting is now officially adjourned."

"What?" Aella whispered, noticing that Tellus is doing her a side eye as if he was judging her.

"You did something bad, did you?" he smirked.

"Come on, Tellus," Aerona crossed her arms and gave Tellus a withering look. "Aella isn't like you, who's always getting called because of mischievous and being troublesome."

Aella chuckled. "If I do, then I will take any punishment," she stated, there's a hint of teasing in her voice.

"I am taking punishment!" Tellus immediately defended himself.

"I did not say anything." Aella gently laughed as she stood up, preparing to visit the sacred chamber. "See you later," she waved her hands.

Aella reached the sacred chamber, standing in front of a huge double door with elegant and fancy red diamonds.

The two Epsilon guarding the place bowed at her, and opened the double door.

A grand and majestic garden unfolded before her. It was mystical, unearthly.

Their world is already so fascinating yet this sacred chamber is beyond that. No words can describe how heavenly this place is.

She found the Alpha divinely standing in the center of the place, adoring the massive tree planted in the right side of the chamber.

"Your Majesty, I hope the day treats you with utmost grace."

Alpha did not respond. Her gaze remained fixated at the tree.

Aella stayed bowed, quietly waiting for a response.

"They are already moving," she murmured in a low voice yet calmly.

"Indeed, an increased movement from them had been observed, Your Majesty."

"When do you think the war will end?"

No word came out from Aella's mouth. She herself also does not know either.

A war going on for beyond a century…. they all wondered when this would end.

It killed too many people, no one knows the cause of.

"Your generation are the fifth stones bearer," she looked at Aella with hopeful eyes. "More than 120 years have passed." A hint of sadness can be heard in her voice.

"It's been more than a century, Your Majesty. You did great in leading us."

She gave Aella a faint smile but genuinely one. "I know this might be too much," she looked directly at Aella's eyes as if it was asking for forgiveness yet hoping for understanding.

"I'll take any mission given by you, Your Majesty. It will always be an honor to be trusted by you," Aella stated with unwavering eyes, showing a full dedication in her responsibility to their world.

"I need you… to go into the mortal world."
