Fiorella thought she had died, but it didn't seem like that. She was on top of a giant tree, being held by John in his arms. "Are you okay?" he asked with a gentle smile.
Fiorella was confused to see another player in the Great Forest. "Are you lost too?" she asked. Her voice was a bit mature, but too pleasant to hear.
John didn't answer directly and suddenly jumped. Fiorella looked behind, the slimes were about to catch them. She closed her eyes in real life.
SLASH!
A wind-cracking sound came and in a moment, all those slimes were cut down into small pieces. As she opened her eyes and saw that, she was surprised. 'He cutted them this easily with a wooden sword? But it's not enough to defeat them. They will multiply, we need to Demolish them.'
"Lady, you have to cast that spell to Demolish them," John said urgently.
Fiorella, still in his arms, looked down. "Sorry, but I don't have mana left."
John smirked. "You don't have to worry. It's a basic feature in-game, I can share my mana with you. Just get ready to cast the spell."
Fiorella looked embarrassed. 'I don't even know a basic feature. I'm pathetic.' She covered her face.
John, who had just landed on another tree, looked down at Fiorella. "What happened, lady? Aren't you gonna cast the spell? Don't you want to leave?"
His last question burned a fire inside her. She jumped from his arms and landed beside him. "Of course I want to leave. I'm trapped here since..." She paused. "Let me cast the spell. Help me, J.D!"
John looked confused. 'What? What is J.D— oh I forgot it's my own name. Bruh.'
'I forgot other players can see my name and level, just not my other stats. But I can, as I have system now.' John thought, then moved behind Fiorella and pressed a hand on her back. "Cast the spell!"
All the slimes were combining with each other to form a big slime, preparing to cause a grand explosion. 'They are performing just as I thought - fast and intelligently.' John smirked inside.
Fiorella shifted her magic staff in the air, a magic circle forming above it. John's mana was draining very fast. 'Is it even enough?' John thought. 'I hope so, otherwise we both will die and get sent back to the respawn point. It would be good for me, but not for her, as I can clearly see. She is trapped in this forest.'
All the slimes combined into one — A Colossal Black Explosive Slime, shrouded in darkness, with grotesque eyes and a twisted smile. Its presence felt unbearably heavy, as if it were made of tons of weigh. It was nearly reaching them without even jumping. 'It's too big... can my attack even hurt it? Will I get thrown back into that valley?' Fiorella started losing hope, her hand slowly pulling down.
Suddenly her hand got pushed up, her thoughts fading as John called to her. "Lady! Lady! See we — no, you can defeat it. Just believe in yourself!"
Fiorella looked up and said. "No, not only I will defeat it. We both will defeat it."
After sharing all his mana with Fiorella, John took out his wooden sword. His body glowing yellow. "I'm gonna distract it. You cast the spell." With that, he jumped on the Colossal Black Explosive Slime.
SLASH!
John started slashing nonstop at the slime. The clash of the wooden sword against slime was making yellow and red burning slashes burst out. It was doing some damage to the Colossal Slime, but not enough. 'I can't just spam unstoppable... my stamina will drain out.'
A window popped up in front of him.
[Do you want to use the only skill you have?]
"Of course!" John yelled. The window then showed the skill. John could activate it from the hand controller of the VR. He read the skill name and its function. 'It's a level one skill... able to cut through anything. Maybe I should try it.'
Fiorella was still forming the spell, only 10% remained. "Just hold on a bit longer! I will end this soon!"
John looked at her and nodded, throwing himself away from the slime. The Colossal Slime charged at him with a twisted smile.
'I'm not respected. Just hated. But it doesn't matter, not as long as I still have myself. As long as I have the strength to fight for me, nothing else matters. I'm gonna defeat it myself, right here and right now!' John yelled inside.
The Colossal Slime was nearly on him.
He took a deep breath, looking down,
"...Hell..."
He looked up at the Collosal Slime. "RAGNA...ROK!!"
FIZZZZ!
A flare of purple and dark light came out from his wooden sword as he swung it. The energy cut through the slime, slicing it in half. 'Yes! I defeated it—' John thought he had won.
The Colossal Slime combined again and charged at him. His stamina was completely drained. 'Shit! I can't dodge. I'm gonna die!'
The Colossal Slime opened its mouth, about to devour John.
"My Power! Demolish the Evil!—"
BOMB!
The whole area blasted. All the trees around turned into ashes. Smoke covered the entire area, but John was safe. The system had applied a shield around him.
[Level Up!]
[Level Up!]
[Level Up!] x24
Too many windows popped up in front of him. 'What? I leveled up from 25 to 51 so easily?' John, who was still mid-air, landed on a ground which was completely covered in ashes.
[Positive Path Selected!]
[Positive Market Unlocked!]
[2500 Credits Added!]
"By helping her, I unlocked the Positive Path. And 2500 credits? Let's see what I can buy from it."
He put a hand on his chin, thinking. 'But how will I get access to the Market? Is there any button for it? Or... I just need to command?'
"Open the Market," he commanded.
A window popped up in front of him.
[Welcome to Positive Path's Market!]
Then a whole shop window opened in front of him. There were many items on sale. "Wow, there are too many weapons and other items here."
He scrolled down, but everything was priced higher than 2500 credits. 'Is there nothing I can afford?' Just when he was about to close it out of disappointment, he saw something interesting.
[Sword of Storm: Gaikiri]
[6-Star Mythical Sword]
[Buy: 2500 Credits]
"A Six-Star Mythical sword for just 2500 credits?!" John yelled out loud in shock.
"What happened? Why are you yelling? Is everything okay?" a voice came from the smoke - Fiorella stepped out from it.
John quickly adjusted his clothes, his hair, and his voice. "Nothing happened." He smiled. Fiorella nodded and walked off somewhere. John continued thinking why a Six-Star Mythical sword would cost only 2500 credits while even two-star and three-star swords were priced higher.
And more importantly—
'I DON'T REMEMBER ADDING SUCH A SWORD IN THE GAME!! Does this thing too get added after I died?!' John yelled inside.
But outside, John asked, "Why is this like that?"
[The reason this Mythical sword costs so low is that it is Incomplete.]
"Incomplete?" John looked confused. He looked carefully at the sword and realized something. "Wait a second... it's the same sword that was in that purple room!"
[Yes, it's the same. I think you've seen that its hilt has a place where we have to fit something.]
"Yeah, I remember. But what's about it?"
[The thing we have to put there is the real reason that makes it a Mythical-level sword. Without that thing - or we should say, that gem - it is still powerful, but not enough to be called Mythical-level.]
"So that's the reason why this sword costs so low... but how will we find that gem?" John asked.
[The gem is shattered into six pieces and distributed across six kingdoms of each civilization.]
"So I have to travel all the way from Human civilization to Elven, then Demon, then Vampire, then Dwarf, and in the end, Demi-Human civilization, right?"
[Absolutely.]
"The fuck! How do you expect me to travel through all civilizations without even knowing in which kingdom will I find a gem piece?!"
[Don't worry about that. The sword will start shining whenever you cross into the Kingdom that has a gem piece. Mostly, it would be stored in the Kingdom's treasure.]
John sighed. "Then it's fine. Not too hard. But what's the profit for me in buying this sword without that gem?"
Another window popped up.
[ADDITIONAL SKILLS]
[STORM DISASTER]
[CYCLONE REQUIEM]
[HELL RAGNAROK ^2]
[After buying this sword, you will receive these skills at level one, and your Hell Ragnarok will level up by two.]
John smirked. "Interesting."
[So, will you buy it?]
