I Caught You.

Nathan woke up the following morning, he ate breakfast and went to attend his vampire drill then came back home. He took a quick shower and put on his casual yet formal suit. "Where are you headed?" Theo took a bite of an onion given by Brian and immediately spit it out of his mouth, Brian laughed as he saw Theo enthusiastically spit out the onion, running to the sink to rinse off his mouth.

"Thanks' Brian." Nathan chuckled a bit clearly amused by the trick that he had pulled on Theo, "why the hell would you do that?" Theo gargled more water and rinsed his mouth, Brian continued laughing, "you will be sharper now." He teased then Theo kept water in his mouth and chased Brian around the kitchen threatening to spit the water on him. It was like an Olympic sport as they sped around the kitchen with Brian barely escaping Theo's witty way of thinking.

Alexi came down the stairs, he was wearing jeans, with a t shirt and a long coat on top of everything. "who are you trying to impress." Brian immediately stopped his game with Theo and focused on him. Theo slid next to him, he was about to spit the water on him but he also noticed Alexi.

"…" Everyone was looking at Alexi and he was also looking at them, for a moment nobody said anything. "Your mom." He smiled then left the house. He left everyone stunned, his regular clothes were sweats and pyjamas, he barely left the house unless it's for official business and now he had some life. Nathan wanted to discuss this with the youngins but he had somewhere to be, so he also turned and left.

Alexi got into his car, he put on his sunglasses and put on his headphones then relaxed in his car. He looked at his watch and waited while he tapped his finger to the music. He was looking through his rearview mirror just waiting and finally the person he was waiting for showed up. Nathan got into his car and drove off. After Nathan left the garage, Alexi started his car and followed Nathan behind. He was keeping his distance, keeping two cars between them and just looking ahead where Nathan had taken turns. He followed him until Nathan parked in front of Lee's house, Alexi though parked across the street and watched from afar. His sight was clear so he will be able to see what he wants to see from the distance.

Alexi watched him knock on Lee's house, he knocked and knocked but nobody answered. Nathan turned and left, Lexi though didn't follow him this time, instead he went to the door himself and started listened in through the door, there was no sound. Alexi turned and left, he drove home when he got home, it was already dinner time. They didn't ask him anything instead they were stuck looking at Nathan and his crushed state.

"Ill go back tomorrow." He continued his conversation with the youngins as Alexi joined them. They ate and went to sleep. The next day the youngings attended their drill and Alexi left after breakfast, he started his car and went to Lee's house. He didn't get out of the car though, he just parked far away and waited. There was no movement at all at the house he was watching, like there was no life. After half a day Nathan showed up and knocked until he gave up then went home. Alexi though stayed behind and waited until late into the night and there was still no movement from the house.

A week passed, Nathan had went to Lee's place and for the whole week he couldn't find him, he knew he wasn't hiding in his house refusing to open for him because he could hear through the door with his heightened hearing and there was no sign of life in the house. Lee was also not answering his calls.

"Have you quit going to his house yet?" Alexi stopped playing with the harmonica as soon as Nathan entered the house looking sour. Lexi loved playing and learning to play different musical instruments, him and his ex loved music and dancing, well it was his ex who loved dancing and he loved watching his ex dance for him.

"Lexi…" Nathan looked at his best friend, he didn't look happy rather his forehead had creases and his gaze was slowly turning dark. "Yeah?" He felt the need to say that because he could feel the shift in the air, something was off about Nathan. He didn't say anything just looked at Alexi searching for something in his face and under his intense gaze Alexi felt himself tense up. He wasn't scared or nervous, it was just that he could tell that something was off.

"Why have you been following me to Lee's house?" Nathan raised his eyebrows and his face straightened. "Uhh…" Alexi didn't know what to say, he was caught and because he thought that he wouldn't get caught he never created a lie to tell. He was rummaging his brain for an appropriate answer that would not set off his best friend. "I… really… didn't foll-" he stopped talking and cleared his throat.

"Well you followed me the first day then for the remaining days of the week you went there before me and left after me." Nathan made him aware that he had seen him do everything he thought he was hiding so well. "Yeah, you caught me." He was finally able to form a straight sentence without running out of ideas of what to say, he looked like he was finally ready to answer him. "What is it that you wanted?" He was calm but his tone had gone from friendly to being shrouded in slight anger, it was promising Alexi death if he slipped and said the wrong thing.

"I wanted to see him." He answered honestly, "last time you said a lot of things and I figured, I wanted to see this man that made you- a man who makes it his point to stay positive become all bitter and followed by a dark cloud of depression." His tone was relaxed, there was nothing in his tone that suggested that he was hiding something. "I don't believe you." He was telling the truth, he didn't believe Alexi and he wanted the truth, he had balled his hands into fists as he got upset with the fact that Alexi was lying to him. Alexi looked at his balled up fists on his sides and he saw his twitching eye, "then hit me." he offered his cheek. "The fact that you don't believe me won't change the truth." Nathan looked at him, he scrutinized his face searching for lies and deceit but Alexi's face showed no nervousness or like he was hiding something.

"Why did you do it?" Nathan asked for the last time, he was searching for something. Alexi had a habit of brushing his hair back and blinking when lying. He did it unconsciously and the guys never told him about it because he was too hard to read so they kept that information to themselves. "Fine!" He deeply sighed, "I was going to tell him how much you loved him and try to settle things." He shrugged and turned away.

"What..?" When he didn't brush his hair back but instead turned away Nathan knew he was embarrassed that he was caught doing a kind of a good deed for his friend, he was caught having his friend's back actually showing feelings instead of being an ice-cold bastard that he claims he is. "No wonder you belong to the Fire element, you're warm." Nathan went to hug him but Alexi avoided the hug. Nathan pulled him in and hugged him regardless.

"Thank you." He hugged him tightly but Alexi didn't hug him back instead he brushed his hair back and blinked while he said, "I got your back." Nathan didn't see him brushing his hair back and he chalked up him not returning his hug was just Alexi being Alexi, "Never do that though because, he will kill me." Nathan explained that it was a bad idea for Alexi to approach Lee because he was unpredictable and he was just an angry person especially when it came to Nathan. "He's quite fiery!" Nathan ended his explanation with that, "I know…" That comment fell out of Alexi lips unintentionally, he wanted to think it but he ended up saying it out loud instead.

"…" Nathan looked at him waiting for him to explain himself, Alexi ruffled Nathan's hair and explained that with the way that he always talks about Lee, he had come to the conclusion that he was fiery. Nathan nodded along, then Alexi put his hand on Nathan's shoulder, "I'm going to sleep." He pet him with the other hand and left him there, when he got to his room he shut the door, threw his head back and released a long breath of relief that he had been holding in, he was so close to being caught. He looked back at his door as if someone was behind it and said, "I lied Nathan…" he sounded so disappointed in himself.
