Chapter 7

"Shut up!"

Logan lunged forward, his hand wrapping viciously around Katie's throat. Katie just let out a cold laugh.

"Even if you kill me, it won't bring Willa back."

Logan released his grip, his gaze turning icy as he stared at Katie.

"Don't worry, I'm not going to let you die."

"Willa spent three years kneeling at the altar, praying for you. Now, it's your turn."

"Guards! Take her to the family chapel and make her pray for Willa, day and night!"

He glared at Katie, his voice laced with venom. "You had better pray that Willa comes through this unharmed. Otherwise, I will make you long for death and deny you even that mercy!"

When I woke up again, I saw Logan by my bedside, looking haggard and exhausted.

When he saw I was awake, a look of relief lit up his eyes.

"Willa! You're awake! How are you feeling?"

I didn't look at him. My gaze was fixed emptily on the ceiling as I spoke, my voice calm.

"Logan, let's sever the mate bond."

The joy on his face instantly froze.
