I didn't wait to listen to her tears. But if the tears pushed her to give me what I wanted, I was more open to them. I just didn't feel like I had to be present for it.


I stopped short when I opened the door to Mitchell's keeping room and was surprised to find Jason beside Kylie.


"What's going on?" I asked quietly as I closed the door behind me. Are you done with the other bloke?" I asked Jason while my eyes were on Kylie. I was worried that my interrogation with Michelle would have been too much for her, but she seemed to be standing strong.


"I decided to wait for you. You should be there, to hear the things he says."


"Oh. I didn't reckon it to be a big deal." I said and reached out for Kylie's hand. She took mine without question, "Let's go then. Maybe he'll be more willing to speak up than this one." I said, pointing to Mitchell's door.
