Chapter 2

"The police are here!"

Someone shouted from the crowd, and Ethan Burke grabbed Julia Miller and me and ran back the way we came.

Thinking about Owen Mercer's face covered in blood at the end, I strangely felt a sense of inexplicable happiness. I clutched my stomach, collapsed on the ground, and laughed uncontrollably.

"Did he get so mad he lost it?"

Julia Miller muttered.

"Shut up, you jinx!"

Ethan Burke interrupted Julia Miller sharply, sounding extremely unfriendly.

"Damn, Ethan Burke, you're rebelling! I just thought you were such a man, can't you keep up that image!"

I suddenly stopped laughing, looked at these two jokers in front of me, and then started laughing again, clutching my stomach.

Ethan Burke ignored everyone else's gazes and directly carried me on his back. For the first time, I felt that a person's back could be so warm, like sleeping in the sunlight, perpetual spring.
