Chapter 2

I opened the contact list and clicked on the number I had been repeatedly visiting for three days but never called.

"Beep—the number you are calling is currently on a call—"

This call was disconnected. Unwilling to give up, I dialed again and again. I don't know how many times I tried, but Allen Carter's phone eventually shut off. They couldn't even be bothered to handle a call.

I didn't know what I was feeling inside; there was a strange sweetness at the back of my throat. I licked my lips and nearly crushed the fabric of the sofa armrest with my grip.

I sat alone for a long time. After a while, a plan began to develop in my heart.

Before getting together with Allen Carter, due to my previous relationship, I knew a few journalists.

I'm somewhat thankful now. Luckily, those contacts were still there and weren't discarded during the decisive breakup with my ex.
