Chapter 15: Father Beats Son

"A Star-Emblem Knight?"

Zhu Yuan muttered to herself as she watched the unknown being transform from a human into a knight. She didn't usually watch tokusatsu shows; she had only looked into it before because surveillance had captured someone who looked like a knight. She had originally thought it was just a fan in a suit and helmet, but now, seeing someone transform in a way that couldn't be explained by science, she found it hard to comprehend.

This was one of the reasons Mo Xuan transformed in front of Zhu Yuan. If he had secretly transformed in an alley and then appeared, his human identity would be questionable. Zhu Yuan might have attacked him along with the strange Ethereals. Now, with his human identity established, he at least wouldn't be treated as a hostile unit.

Mo Xuan leaped down from the roof. The powerful assistance from the Rider System allowed him to land steadily on the ground, and then he began to walk towards the Dullahan.

'Roar!'

The Dullahan's consciousness had no concept of escape, but its instincts were frantically warning it. The knight before it was not an existence it could provoke. So it roared, and the Ethereals that heard its voice gave up besieging Zhu Yuan and Qingyi, rushing straight towards Mo Xuan.

Mo Xuan saw the surging Ethereal horde, but he only gave it a glance. His gaze was always locked on the Dullahan. Soon, the first beast-type Ethereal pounced on Mo Xuan. It looked like a lizard and didn't have a head in the traditional sense; instead, when its mouth opened, it revealed a passage leading directly to its abdominal cavity.

The beast-type Ethereal opened its mouth and bit down on Mo Xuan's head. Its sharp teeth scraped against the hard Rider helmet, creating sparks, but that was it. Mo Xuan was unmoved. With the Ethereal clinging to him, scratching and biting, he continued to walk towards the Dullahan.

Other Ethereals had already swarmed him, piling on top of him until they formed a small hill. And the hill was slowly moving across the ground. No matter how hard the Ethereals tried, they couldn't stop Mo Xuan from taking another step forward.

"Is that a person?"

Qingyi had already joined Zhu Yuan. She pointed at the moving hill, dumbfounded. She had never seen how the legendary seven 'Hollow Hunters' fought, but seeing the overwhelming power this knight displayed, she was willing to call him the strongest below the 'Hollow Hunters'.

"I think so."

Zhu Yuan wasn't sure if he was a person either. If she had encountered such a situation, she would have been chewed to death by the Ethereals long ago. Zhu Yuan was only excellent in combat skills, not made of iron.

"Cast Off."

Mo Xuan's right hand touched the beetle-like Zecter on his belt, pulling its horn to his right side and causing the insect instrument to unfold. As he gave the command, the Rider System accepted it.

The armor on his upper body cracked open, not from an Ethereal's attack, but by its own accord. The chest, arm, and shoulder plates became individual pieces of armor and were violently ejected outwards by an internal pressure.

A powerful shockwave radiated out from Mo Xuan. All the Ethereals piled on him were sent flying. Some that were hit by the armor plates shattered on the spot, turning into Ether energy. The Knight's true form was revealed.

[Change Beetle.]

A cold, mechanical voice sounded from the belt. Kamen Rider Kabuto's figure was now much slimmer than before. The armor on his chest and abdomen had become a thin layer of bright red, resembling the structure of a beetle. A red horn now covered his face, bisecting the original azure faceplate and making the Rider look even more like an insect's vessel.

After the Cast Off was complete, there were no Ethereals left standing around Mo Xuan. He walked towards the Dullahan, his pace gradually quickening. In an instant, he was in front of the monster, throwing a right punch.

The Dullahan raised the shield on its left hand and simultaneously lifted its right arm, which had transformed into a long blade, slashing down at Mo Xuan's head. However, it had miscalculated one thing: their strengths were completely mismatched. Before, it had sent Mo Xuan flying; now, the situation was completely reversed.

Mo Xuan's punch slammed into the Dullahan's shield. It felt a force of several tons hit it, and with its weight, it was impossible to block the punch. It was instantly sent flying backward, with no chance to engage Mo Xuan.

The Dullahan's body became a blur as it crashed into the building behind it. The three-story building collapsed with a roar. Mo Xuan retracted his fist, looking at his arm with some surprise. This was his first time fighting an Ethereal. Setting aside the minions, he hadn't expected an elite unit to be this weak—so weak that after one punch, the system prompted that the execution threshold had been reached.

That's right, it was a system prompt. Mo Xuan had only discovered during the battle that the Kabuto Rider System had a combat assistance function. This was a power from the world of Kabuto used to fight the Worms. When fighting against insects with extremely strong vitality, it was very important to know the opponent's status at all times, so such an assistance ability was included.

Mo Xuan understood now. He knew why Kabuto's Rider Kick was a guaranteed hit. With the system's assistance, he knew when to use a Rider Kick to finish it. Since the execution threshold had been prompted, how could he miss?

Mo Xuan completely ignored Zhu Yuan's warning, just stopped, and his right hand touched the row of buttons above the Zecter, pressing them in sequence.

The cold prompt sounded again. After pressing three times, Mo Xuan returned the right-facing horn to its original position, re-forming the beetle shape. A powerful energy flowed out from the Zecter, transmitted through the belt to Mo Xuan's body. It passed through the horn on his head and gradually gathered towards his right leg. A visible electric current wrapped around his right foot. No one would doubt the power of this kick.

"Rider Kick."

Mo Xuan calmly recited the name of the finishing move. The Dullahan was already half a meter behind him, its long blade raised high, ready to swing down. But in the next moment, Mo Xuan suddenly turned and did a high kick. His right leg, like a long whip, struck the Dullahan's chest. Because of the height difference, he didn't kick its head, but that was enough.
