The morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow over the room. Today was the day I could finally leave the palace grounds again. The thought filled me with a joy I hadn’t felt in weeks. I had promised Zavier I wouldn’t misuse this privilege, and though he wasn’t entirely convinced, he was willing to trust me again. Today was about feeling free and enjoying the outdoors.
“Beatrix!” I called out as I made my way to the kitchen. Beatrix, the head maid, turned and smiled warmly at me.
“Good morning, my lady. You seem particularly bright today,” she said, her eyes twinkling.
