Prologue: A World Touched by Mana

hundred years ago, the world changed.

The sky cracked—split like glass beneath a giant's boot—and from its wounds poured something invisible, unstoppable, and eternal: Mana.

Its arrival wasn't announced with trumpets or divine prophecy. There was no warning. Just wind, light, and silence. And then everything began to change.

Mountains shifted. Oceans breathed strange colors. Forests whispered new names. Beasts—once ordinary—grew fangs of fire and wings of smoke. And humans?

Some humans changed too.

They called them Ascendants—those whose bodies resonated with mana, whose blood adapted, whose spirits awakened. With time, they learned to harness it, to shape it, to make it their own.

But the world was not ready for them.

Empires fell. Kingdoms rose in their place—ancient families, warlords, clans and factions, each clinging to strength as their one true right. The world was remade in the image of power.

No longer were nations drawn by flags or borders. Now, strength decided fate. Rank defined reality.

And in a village far from the shining towers and crumbling citadels, a boy with empty hands trained beneath the falling stars—unaware that one day, the world would come to know his name.

Raze Varnir.

The boy who believed his body was a furnace.

The boy who lost something he could never replace.

RANKS

E-Rank

No traits. The body is unawakened. Most people fall into this rank their entire lives.

D-Rank

– Mages: Awaken a minor elemental affinity (e.g., fire, wind, water). It's unstable and requires training to control.

– Martial Artists: Begin body reinforcement through mana absorption. Muscles harden, reflexes sharpen, but no outward transformation yet.

C-Rank

– Mages: Elemental affinity becomes more refined. The body starts adapting to the element (e.g., fire mages might run hotter).

– Martial Artists: Spirit Mark begins to flicker. Body begins rejecting weak movements. Training requires mental and physical synchronization. Minor spiritual resonance appears under pressure.

B-Rank

– Mages: Gain access to elemental shaping. They can conjure and manipulate their element freely. The spirit mark becomes visible during casting.

– Martial Artists: Spirit Mark becomes active. Muscle fibers are reinforced by mana on instinct. Some gain unique bodily adaptations (denser bones, internal heating, explosive force).

A-Rank

– Mages: Full elemental embodiment. Their bodies carry permanent elemental traits (e.g., a lightning mage's aura crackles). Can merge elemental spells for new effects.

– Martial Artists: Spirit Mark blooms fully. Their presence becomes unnatural — heat, pressure, or weight manifests just from standing still. They can fuse techniques into instinctive combat flow.

S-Rank

Unknown. Those who reach it become legends. The line between magic and flesh blurs. Some say their genes mutate entirely. No confirmed record.
