"I didn't expect there's still a human left here," she said, smiling wickedly as she tightened her grip.
Zoren instinctively grabbed her hand with both of his, struggling to break free, but he couldn't escape.
"This is the first time I've seen a human use magic," she smirked, climbing on top of Zoren's stomach to apply more pressure.
"Oblivion Blink is a rare magic, but once the user reaches Layer 5, they can almost instantly erase anyone. Yours is still weak, only Layer 1, but such a rare magic being used by a human like you?"
Zoren glared at her angrily. Instead of feeling fear, his rage only grew, even though he was currently bound by an enemy.
"And what's more interesting is that I don't even feel any mana from you. Normally, any creature that can use magic should have mana," she leaned in closer, her face nearing Zoren's before continuing. "Weaker mana means a weaker creature. Those with a high amount of mana are stronger. But you? You don't even have a bit of mana inside you. You're literally empty."
She suddenly lifted Zoren by his neck. His feet no longer touched the ground, and he couldn't breathe properly. He tried to kick her, but it had no effect. Then the Demonic Dragon threw him hard, and he landed far away, hitting his back.
The pain from the impact was intense. Zoren felt dizzy as the Demonic Dragon slowly walked toward him, speaking as she approached.
"With mana, someone can use magic. Without mana, they can't, because every magic uses mana. So tell me, human, how can you use magic?"
Zoren heard the question, but he was too dizzy to respond. Still, those words triggered something within him. He began to realize something.
Magic? Mana? I don't have mana? Does that mean I'm the only creature who can use magic without mana? If that's the case, I can use magic whenever I want, without relying on mana. That's why the figure who sacrificed himself to resurrect me died, because of mana. He used all his mana. Maybe he needed mana to stay alive.
But the fact that I can learn magic is enough for me. I just need to remember it, that magic or whatever it was from that one manhwa I read in the past. I was able to learn the figure's magic, but what about a magic that came from a fictional character? Whatever, I'll still do it. I must focus.
Zoren closed his eyes, still in pain, trying to focus completely on remembering that power from the manhwa. The power wasn't hard to imagine, but more complex powers were harder to execute. Simple powers were easier. Eventually, Zoren fully visualized it, a magic that allowed someone to continuously heal their entire body. His body now felt lighter as it began to heal constantly.
Zoren no longer felt dizzy and used Oblivion Blink to vanish and reappear on a tree trunk to hide. The Demonic Dragon saw Zoren disappear. She looked around, confused, but couldn't see him.
"Human, keep hiding. Keep using Oblivion Blink, but you won't escape alive. This place is full of monsters and demons like me. Once they see a human, they'll kill it immediately," she said, her voice loud enough for Zoren to hear.
But Zoren didn't mind. He was focused on something else. He kept imagining more powers he had seen on TV, powers he could think into reality. The one that caught his attention most was the power of freezing, the ability to create ice.
He inhaled and exhaled, closing his eyes until his mind formed a clear visual image of the magic. Slowly, he felt a tingling coldness spread through his body.
He slowly opened his eyes, inhaled and exhaled once more, then opened his palm, and a sharp piece of ice appeared.
He closed his palm, and the sharp ice vanished. He then used Oblivion Blink again, appearing behind the Demonic Dragon and surprising her. He waved his hand forcefully, sending a small wave of ice at her.
Before she could fully react, she deflected it with her wings, but the impact still sent her crashing into a tree. Her right wing was damaged, and the force caused the tree to collapse behind her.
She remained standing and saw that her right wing had small holes. She was shocked, her eyes widening as she saw Zoren standing, staring at her intently.
"Now you're using a type of ice magic I've never heard of. You're such a cunning human," she said, smiling while secretly preparing to attack, her right hand already forming fire.
Suddenly, she pointed her palm at Zoren and released a powerful fire blast, bigger than a human body. She smirked, but Zoren remained still, watching how she used her magic before summoning his own to counter it with a wall of ice. The fire was ineffective against the ice, which absorbed the heat. The ice melted, but Zoren was smart enough to keep restructuring it so that it would reform every time it melted.
The Demonic Dragon's eyes widened in surprise. A strong fire blast couldn't defeat a mere human using an unknown form of ice magic.
"Are you wondering now how a human like me can use magic?" Zoren called out from a distance. The Demonic Dragon was cautious, her hands forming fire as she stared at the ice wall.
"Whatever!" she shouted, then launched two massive fire blasts at Zoren, her face full of rage.
Yet Zoren summoned another massive ice wall, which kept melting and regenerating like immortal ice. He continuously restructured it, maintaining the wall against the heat.
Then, suddenly, the fire from the Demonic Dragon's hands weakened. She started to feel it, her mana was slowly depleting. The fire she was using required a huge amount of mana. It was Pyroclasm Layer 2, exclusive to Demonic Dragons. It could melt entire buildings, but it was ineffective against Zoren's ice magic, something he had learned just by watching TV.
She tried to summon fire in her palm again, but it was weak, and then it disappeared completely. She could no longer use magic. Sweat formed on her forehead as Zoren erased the ice and began walking slowly toward her.
"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO'S NOT GETTING OUT ALIVE!!" Zoren shouted, locking eyes with her. She felt something strange about Zoren.
She started hallucinating, seeing a terrifying aura around him. Zoren himself wasn't producing any aura, she was seeing things she shouldn't.
