Chapter 10 Shocking Potion Genius!

Chapter 10

"Devero!? Is it really you!?" Snape was plunged into deep shock as this completely challenged his authority as a potions expert all these years!

This kid had actually managed to use these insignificant materials to brew a Polyjuice Potion, something even Hogwarts graduates might not be able to accomplish!

And from what he had just seen, the effect was remarkably good!

There were none of the flaws typically associated with substandard potions—no defects in height or appearance.

This was simply too outrageous!

Even for himself, at that age, with sufficient materials, he might have given it a try. But the materials Devero had were practically scraps—useless leftovers Snape had given him to practice with.

There was no way Snape could have achieved the same results as Devero just did but this wasn't the time for him to be shocked.

"Professor Snape, is something wrong?" At that moment, the real Tom appeared at the bottom of the stairs.

Snape was still holding his wand under Devero's chin.

"It's nothing, Tom. Devero made a mistake, and I'm giving him a little punishment." Snape discreetly tapped the boy with his wand.

"Isn't that right, Devero?" Devero instantly felt his strength return.

[*Ding!*]

[*New spell acquired!*]

Devero glanced at the notification.

[*Revival Charm (Beginner/Silent)*]

Nice!

He had learned another spell!

"That's right, Tom. I accidentally added the wrong ingredient, and the professor did this to make sure I remember. " Devero said earnestly.

But he felt like Tom didn't quite believe him and understandably so—who would use a curse as a form of discipline?

Plus, the room looked like it had just been through a gang fight, which didn't exactly lend credibility to the story.

But Snape didn't care.

He had explained, and whether Tom believed it was up to him.

He grabbed Devero and dragged him into the room, leaving a suspicious Tom staring up from the bottom of the stairs.

---

"How on earth did you do it!?" Snape pulled Devero into the room and immediately cast a Silencing Charm.

Then he began interrogating Devero.

"Polyjuice Potion? Do you think that's something a beginner can just whip up? You don't have the necessary skills or materials. The only explanation is—did you make some shady deal with the dark wizards in Knockturn Alley?"

"And that's not all! You've also mastered Apparition and a series of advanced spells. Even senior students might not be able to fully grasp those. Tell me, how did you learn them?"

"And what's even more unbelievable is that you've been casting spells outside of Hogwarts. Do you realize how serious a violation that is? Don't you want to return to Hogwarts?"

Snape's questions came like a barrage, leaving Devero momentarily flustered, unsure which one to answer first.

After a chaotic explanation, Snape was left even more confused, almost tempted to pull out his wand and use Legilimency.

Fortunately, Devero calmed down in time and began addressing Snape's questions one by one.

"Let's start with the Polyjuice Potion. I bought the minimum amount of fluxweed, knotgrass, and leech juice, along with other materials, from the apothecary."

"Then I used red horsehair instead of unicorn tail hair. I know the effect would be different, but I also added…"

Devero explained his thought process from the beginning, relying on his potion genius ability to deduce a method for brewing a substandard Polyjuice Potion.

Snape's expression shifted from skepticism to surprise, and eventually, he stared at Devero in disbelief.

"This is almost exactly the same as my thought process back then…" Snape thought to himself, shocked.

During his own school days, he had also tried brewing Polyjuice Potion, and Devero's approach was strikingly similar to his own.

Could this kid have a potion talent comparable to his own?

Why hadn't he noticed it before?

The boy had always seemed a bit dim and foolish.

But then Snape's expression turned skeptical again.

"But that approach couldn't possibly produce a Polyjuice Potion with such flawless results. You didn't show a single flaw—I couldn't even tell anything was off!"

Devero had anticipated this question.

When he gained the red-tier "Potion Spirit" ability, he had already figured out how to improve his Polyjuice Potion recipe to address the issues with the original formula.

So he answered almost instinctively.

"That's right, so I made further improvements to the process. Between the fourteenth and twenty-first days of brewing, I added fluxweed and knotgrass in batches, because this way…"

Snape, being a certified potion genius himself, immediately recognized the validity of Devero's method after a moment of thought.

While it might not achieve the flawless effect of the original recipe, it was close enough—more than good enough!

If this approach were pursued further, it might even lead to a brand-new Polyjuice Potion recipe!

Snape's composure faltered at the thought.

Could this kid, by sheer accident, be on the verge of making a major breakthrough in the potion world?

Suddenly, as if realizing something, Snape's expression softened.

"Of course, he's *his* child. How could he be ordinary?"

"This kid's potion talent might even surpass mine!"

Snape's mind was racing with thoughts, but all Devero saw was Snape's face shifting through surprise, skepticism, and then a strange sense of acceptance.

"Your explanation holds up," Snape said stiffly, nodding in acknowledgment of Devero's reasoning.

After a moment of contemplation, he added, "Now, write down your process on parchment… Oh, blast it! I forgot!"

Snape smacked his lips, as if remembering something, and turned to the chaotic room, casting a Repair Charm.

Instantly, the dust, glass shards, and broken furniture returned to their original places.

Then he turned to Devero. "Where's your luggage? Pack it up!"

Devero waved his wand. "Accio Eld!"

With the incantation, a dark green shadow zoomed from the corner of the room into Devero's hand.

"It's all here!" Devero said, placing Eld the toad on his shoulder.

Snape instinctively grimaced, clearly repulsed by the toad for some reason.

"Fine. Today's the day you head to Hogwarts. I'll take you to the train station… Wait! You used your wand outside of school!?"
