The holographic projector in the center of the Adapt-Alliance's base now displayed a swirling, complex network of data, overlaid with schematics of advanced robotics and artificial intelligence. The cheerful hum of Fitz's latest experimental energy conduit was a stark contrast to the grim topic at hand. Adam stood before his team, his expression serious, all traces of his usual levity gone.

"Alright, team," Adam began, sweeping a hand across the projection. "Thanos is the endgame, but before the big purple guy shows up, we've got a few… stepping stones. And the next big one, the one we need to start actively preparing for, is Ultron."

Fitz, who had been excitedly explaining a new theoretical application of his Room-Room Fruit, froze. "Ultron? As in… Tony Stark's sentient A.I. that goes rogue and tries to wipe out humanity? But that's… that's years away, isn't it?"

"Canonically, yes. But Tony's already tinkering with advanced A.I. and global defense initiatives. He's trying to build a 'suit of armor around the world.' And knowing Tony, he's going to cut corners, rush the process, and accidentally create a genocidal robot with daddy issues," Adam explained, a grimace on his face. "We need to mitigate the damage. Prevent unnecessary casualties. And ensure the Avengers are in the right place, at the right time, to stop him."

[SYSTEM MESSAGE: STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE 'ULTRON MITIGATION' INITIATED. META-KNOWLEDGE GUIDANCE ACTIVE FOR 'ULTRON CREATION' AND 'VULNERABILITIES'. RECOMMENDATION: FOCUS ON PRE-EMPTIVE MEASURES AND COUNTER-MEASURES.]

"So, we're babysitting Tony Stark's bad ideas now?" Yelena quipped, leaning against a console, her arms crossed. "Sounds… tedious. Can't I just punch him until he stops making killer robots?"

"Tempting, Blondie, but no. We need him for Thanos. And besides, Ultron is formidable. He'll be able to upload himself, control global networks, create an army of drones. He's not just a physical threat; he's a digital one," Adam explained. "Fitz, Simmons, your expertise is paramount here. We need to identify potential vulnerabilities in his A.I. programming, develop countermeasures for his drone army, and maybe even find a way to track his consciousness if he tries to escape into the net."

Fitz's eyes lit up, the intellectual challenge overriding his initial apprehension. "An A.I. consciousness… a digital ghost. My Room-Room Fruit could potentially create a localized digital containment field, a 'firewall' in a spatial dimension! And Simmons, your biological analysis could help us understand the potential for his vibranium body, its weaknesses!"

Simmons nodded, her expression grim but determined. "If he intends to transfer his consciousness into a synthetic body, there will be biological components, energy signatures. My Heal-Heal Fruit could potentially disrupt those at a cellular level, or even reverse his regeneration."

"Exactly! See? This is why you guys are the best," Adam praised. "Yelena, your job is reconnaissance. Ultron will need resources: vibranium, advanced manufacturing facilities, power sources. We need to identify potential strongholds he might target, track his early movements, and if necessary, subtly sabotage his resource acquisition."

Yelena pushed off the console. "Finally, something with a clear objective. Find killer robot's hideout, blow it up. Got it."

Over the next few weeks, their hidden base transformed into an Ultron-focused think tank. Fitz was a whirlwind of activity, his Room-Room Fruit creating intricate, multi-layered simulations of Ultron's potential network, testing theoretical firewalls, and designing countermeasures for his drone army. He was even experimenting with using spatial distortions to disrupt data packets, a kind of digital EMP.

Simmons, meanwhile, was deep in biological research, analyzing every known detail about vibranium (from Adam's meta-knowledge) and theoretical synthetic biology. She was working on a highly potent, broad-spectrum EMP that targeted specific energy signatures, hoping it could disrupt Ultron's vibranium body or his consciousness transfer. She even developed a rapid-response, airborne sedative that could incapacitate large numbers of drones without harming organic life.

Adam, ever the puppet master, continued his subtle manipulations within S.H.I.E.L.D. and, more importantly, within Stark Industries. He'd "accidentally" leave encrypted data fragments on shared S.H.I.E.L.D. servers, hinting at the dangers of unchecked A.I. development. He'd subtly influence Tony's research, planting ideas for ethical subroutines, for fail-safes, for better containment protocols, hoping to mitigate Ultron's eventual rampage. He was trying to bend the canon, to soften the blow, without breaking the timeline entirely.

"Just a few lines of code here, Tony. A little 'don't kill all humans' subroutine. You know, for safety," Adam muttered one night, as he remotely accessed Stark's private network, his adaptable body seamlessly bypassing the billionaire's formidable firewalls. He was a ghost in the machine, a silent guardian trying to prevent the inevitable.

The Adapt-Alliance was a well-oiled machine now, their powers and intellect perfectly synchronized. They were preparing for a threat that no one else even knew was coming, a shadow looming on the horizon. Ultron was just the beginning. And Adam knew, with a chilling certainty, that their fight was only just starting. But at least now, he had his team. And they were ready.
