It was hard to focus after that last fight. They decided to call an hour long break, both to fix the arena, and to let people calm down after watching that match.
'Seriously, that was insane! That guy might be on the same level as an actual Breaker already. Actually, he definitely is, so is the president. I think it would've been a close fight had Riku not been as arrogant as he was, that's his biggest weakness, I suppose.'
Sitting down in the waiting area, Kai felt a hand on his shoulder. Looking back, he saw Junpei, smiling.
"That match was crazy, huh? I really didn't expect the Council President to lose, especially not like that…I get the feeling that the fifth years will lose, he's the strongest student at our school." Voicing his concerns, Kai replied, "Well, that just means us First years have to pick up the slack!"
Standing up, Kai gave Junpei a fist bump, grabbing some water and waiting for the matches to resume.
—————
A little over an hour had passed, when the loud speakers finally switched back on.
"Sorry for the long delay, ladies and gentlemen! We will be starting again right now! I will no introduce the first year fighter-"
Everyone got ready, wanting to make an impression after that last match.
"Next Fighter, Korin Academy First year, Kai Kurozawa!"
Kai's chest tightened up a bit, butterflies flying in his stomach. He absolutely felt the nerves, going out to fight in front of thousands of people. However, he was also extremely excited.
As he was walking to the tunnel to enter the arena, he heard Sava and all the others cheering for him.
"You got this Kai! Wooo!" She yelled, showing off her excitement. Kai gave her a thumbs up, entering the field.
His opponent was unfortunately also from Ichihara, really increasing the intensity of this fight.
'I gotta win this one. Losing here is not an option!'
Entering from the opposite tunnel was a black haired male, pretty much the exact same size as Kai. He had blue eyes and seemed very cocky. He had no weapons, appearing to be a fist fighter.
"Let the match begin!" The announcer shouted, both men charging at each other right away.
Kai opened the fight by using Jin Fang, his staff gaining a bright green aura. Upon getting into range, he also activated his ability, stealing some Rin from his opponent, who seems to have just recently broken into Green Core.
This seemed to catch his opponent off guard, as his arm shook a bit. Kai swung down with incredible force. His opponent tried to use Rin to reinforce his arms, however, Kai easily shattered his defense, crashing through his arms and hitting him square in the chest, like a baseball.
The boy was sent crashing backwards, skidding to a halt just before the arena wall.
'Is he really just weak?' Kai ran towards the boy again, spinning his staff quickly, jumping into the air and slamming it downwards. The boy learned from his mistake, dodging this time. When the staff hit the ground it shattered the ground, creating a large shockwave.
Turning quickly, Kai blocked two very fast jabs, however the boy proved much faster than he initially thought, landing a third jab to his jaw.
The attack wasn't that hard, however, Kai felt much worse than he should have, a little dizzy. He felt it. Right as the attack connected, the boy sent some Rin through into Kai, causing a miniature impact within him.
'That's a handy technique…I wonder if I can replicate it! It's just another application of Jin, so it shouldn't be too hard.' Kai thought, ready to give it a shot.
Kai took a step back, swinging his staff quickly, but the boy dodged, however, Kai pulled back, then jabbed his staff like a spear, connecting with the boy's chest.
'Alright, I need to push some Rin forwards rapidly right as my staff makes contact. I got this.'
Kai pulled his staff back, then jabbed it forwards yet again, this time doing just as he planned, forcing Rin directly into the boy's chest as soon as he landed the attack.
It worked just as he planned, a secondary wave assaulted the inside of the boy's body, right where Kai's staff struck. This seemed to shock him, crouching over in pain and surprise.
"How the hell did you do that? There's no way you learned how to use the Second Impact after being hit by it once!" The boy shouted, charging at Kai. This time he forced Rin to his legs, moving explosively.
He appeared in front of Kai, throwing a very powerful right cross into a left jab. Kai blocked them both, however still not used to the speed of the boys attacks, he got struck in the gut, skidding back a bit.
The boy did not let up, leaping forward and continuing the assault, he punched Kai in the stomach again, then grabbed his collar, pulling him back into a powerful strike to the cheek, this one sending Kai rolling back.
His vision began to blur, feeling more tired than he should. 'Man he is good with that style, I gotta stop messing around and get serious.'
Kai stood up, shaking off his pain. The boy charged again, doing the same movement he just did.
"Your predictability and speed will be your downfall." Kai spoke, creating a very fast Twin Edge Wall, the spikes on the other side of the wall cutting into the boy, however, while the boy was stopping and trying to step back from the wall, Kai dropped said wall, swinging the staff with insane power, landing a swiping attack to the boy's jaw, sending him back flipping and rolling across the arena floor, landing unconscious, securing the win for Kai.
The crowd went wild, however, Kai noticed someone sitting near the front, a tinge of guilt rushing through him.
His mother smiled down at him, waving and cheering, Kai smiling at her, planning to visit her after the matches were all over.
Returning to the tunnel and entering the door to the waiting room, Junpei gave Kai a high five, happy that his roommate won.
"Good job Kai!" Sava said, pretty much jumping on him, rapping an arm around his neck.
"Thanks, Sava.", the two then sat down, Sava using her ability to heal up all of his injuries, making Kai feel as good as new.
The announcer moved on to the Second years, however, there was nobody Kai was interested in, instead taking the time he got to rest, leaning against the wall and taking a quick nap.
