Chapter 63: Promises Under Lights

[JASMINE – POV]

Prom night.

The one thing I swore I wouldn't care about.

And yet… here I was—standing under fairy lights in a soft, wine-red dress, my curls pinned back with silver clips, trying not to feel like a walking cliché.

Lucas stood across the room in a sleek black suit, eyes locked on me like I was the only one there.

And maybe, just maybe… I was.

He walked over slowly, hand outstretched. "Can I steal this dance, Miss Fire?"

I laughed. "Only if you promise not to step on my toes."

"I make no such promises."

We danced under the stars while slow music played and the rest of the world faded away. I'd never felt so light. So full. So seen.

At one point, Lucas leaned in close and whispered, "After graduation, I don't care where you're going—I'll find a way to follow."

My heart stuttered.

"You mean that?"

He nodded. "Every word. We're building something here. I'm not letting go of it."

Of me.

And just like that…

Under twinkling lights and shared promises…

I fell all over again.

[LUCAS – POV]

She looked like magic.

Not the kind you read about—but the kind you feel. Wild. Real. Impossible to forget.

When Jasmine smiled up at me, I knew something for sure:

I didn't need a perfect plan for the future.

I just needed her in it.
