Chapter Eleven: Post Interschool Competition (Nao's childhood days)
It was evening, the students of Majutsu High Tokyo were at the school some resting, some playing and others chatting.
The morning and afternoon was a great one because, they had a party for the victory over Majutsu High's students of Kyoto, Japan.
Jūzō sat alone on the roof of the school building holding a can of soda, Sayuri came to sit with him.
"Hello, boy wonder, what are you doing all by yourself here with a can of soda?" she requested
"Nothing, just looking at the night sky and stars, what are you up to? Any plans? What grade do you think we would be promoted to?" He asked.
"Nah, I don't have any plans, except for staying here helping others and destroying those curses and demons," she replied.
"And as for the grade, I think we would be promoted to either first grade or second grade," she added.
"Sayu-chan?"
"Shortening my name? Who gave you that permission to do so?" asked Sayuri
"Oh come on, it's just my nickname for you, but if you don't want it, I'll just keep calling you that long, boring and ridiculous Sayuri,"
"Nevermind," she said
"What?" He asked
"I said nevermind, you...can keep calling me.....Sayu, it's good, I like it," she responded
Jūzō smirked a little and spoke
"If I were to ever change for any reason, or if I were to grow wild, please stop me by all possible means," he muttered
"What do you mean by if you were to change? What would you change into?"
He sighed and then spoke:
"You have no idea, and neither do I," he replied, eyes stuck on the stars.
Sayuri watched him with confusion and worry beside him from where they were lying down.
"Only God knows what he is talking about, but don't worry Jūzō, I'll be here to stop you from what you are turning into even though I don't know what it is," thought Sayuri in her mind
"Don't worry Jūzō, I'll stop you from becoming what you do not want to be,"
"Thanks, don't tell anyone about this but, the day my village was attacked, I.....died,"
Sayuri's eyes widened at his words
"You....died?" she asked sitting upright.
"Yes, I died and was reborn, into what all humans fear,"
"What's that?"
"A cursed spirit, I'm a cursed spirit Sayuri, not a weak one, a special grade cursed spirit," he said looking at her eyeballs.
"What?"
"That's why I asked you to stop me if I become something else worse than a curse,"
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me, no one will know about anything,"
"Thanks, that's why you are a good friend," he said hugging her.
"Maybe not all sorcerors are evil, like her, she just joined to save the world at the same time when I joined, so there's no way she would have known about my village. Alas, I pray I don't grow evil to the extent that I'll not be able to recognize her and the others," thought Jūzō.
Jūzō stood up and jumped down the building to hang out with the others.
"He is a good person, just the wrong entity," she muttered.
"What the heck? Did my heart just skip a beat?...Nah" she chuckled, brushed it aside and joined the others.
Jūzō and the others chatted alot about his new technique and how he unlocks them all of a sudden. But Nao's mind was somewhere else, she didn't even speak. Haruki and the others noticed this and called her
"Nao?" called Haruki
There was no response
"Hey, Space cadet, wanna come back down to earth?" Sora added.
The others laughed but Nao didn't.
"What's the problem?" Aiko inquired
"Why are you down all of a sudden?" she added
"It's..... nothing," Nao replied
"Come on, tell us, we know something is bothering you," Sayuri insisted.
"Alright, it's about my sister, Yumi from Kyoto Japan's Majutsu High,"
"What? Yumi is your sister?" Sora asked
The team went silent.
"Yes, we've gone way back, actually, she's my step sister. My father married seven wives and my mother was the seventh, her mother was the third. We had alot of fun,"
Flashback to Nao's Childhood
Narrated by Nao
"We were inseparable, in the morning we would go to the garden in our village in which our father was the head. We would play alot and have fun.
In the afternoon, we would train how to fight because we had cursed energy, at least they had cursed energy.
I was born without a cursed energy, I couldn't see or sense demons or curses and neither could I do cursed techniques, I just used a cursed lens that is in my eye to see the Curses and Demons, without them, i would have been like any other human being, useless to the world of sorcery.
I was always made fun of for being from a cursed energy wielding lineage and still not be able to use cursed techniques.
Then, I met a man, clothed in black with red glowing eyes, he said that he was the King of Curses and he wanted to help me learn dark magic so that people wouldn't make fun of me anymore,"
Jūzō's eyes widened at this statement
"The king of Curses?" he thought to himself.
Sayuri looked at him and his expression.
"He might be a curse but, judging from his expression, he might be the reincarnation of the King of Curses," thought Sayuri.
Nao continued to narrate
"I began to learn dark magic all because I wanted to live a peaceful life for once but, that didn't go as I thought, my training time cost me alot of time I should have used in playing with my sister. She began to think that I was avoiding her for some reason,"
"Sister, sister!" young Nao called out to young Yumi.
"What? Leave me alone, go and play with you male friend, you keep leaving me alone all the time, it's not fair," said Yumi
"I'm not leaving you alone, I'm training so I can be able to use cursed techniques like you and the rest,"
"I don't care if you can use cursed techniques like me or the others, you are my sister, that's all I want," Yumi said tears in her eyes.
"Okay, I'm sorry, I'll stop training and keep playing with you, I'll be with you forever, sisters for life?" replied Nao
"Sisters for life," responded Yumi
The two sisters hugged each other and went to the river side holding hands firmly like they would never let go. The river was the place they loved to go to the most.
The next day, Yumi went to Nao's room to play with her but when she got there, she was gone, Nao was nowhere to be found.
"Nao? Nao? Nao where are you? Sister?" Yumi called out anxiously.
"Yumi?" her mother called
"Mum? Mum, where's sister Nao? I can't find her, where did she go?" asked Yumi
"Im sorry dear, but she left you," her mother said sadly.
"No, no, no, she promised me she wouldn't leave me," Yumi was already in tears.
"She promised me, why did she leave?" she asked
"She said she didn't love you, she hated this place and never wanted to come back,"
"No, why? I trusted her, she promised me, why? Why?" Yumi kept on crying, tears rolling down massively as she cried.
Present Day
"I don't know what she was told but I was brought here, Ms. Sae took me in and taught me how to fight and use my dark magic to control sand making it look like I'm a sand manipulation techniqued Sorceress," Nao muttered lastly.
"I don't know if she would ever forgive me," she added.
"She will, if she know the truth, she will, trust me," Sora uttered.
"You think so?" asked Nao
"We know so, so cheer up already, all is well and will be well," replied Jūzō.
The team sat there looking at the night sky as Himuro Sensei watched them from a not too far distance.
"You are not the only one with a sad past," she mumbled.
