Chapter 11

Ricky arrived with a backpack full of items. New bedsheets, new towels, as well as a few other things he would need to clean the gym. He had also ordered a small fridge he could use. Not that he would need it yet. His place had water but not electricity at least not yet. Mainly because he could not yet afford it.

Ricky arrived at the location and looked around. He saw through a window that those detectives were still following him. The location was a clocktower with an accompanying library that had been long since closed down. He walked around it for a moment before deciding on a spot he would watch from.

He walked to the alley where there was a fire escape. He jumped up on a dumpster then grabbed the bottom of the ladder and climbed up. Going past a few apartments he soon arrived at the roof. Where he walked up onto. There was nothing up her aside from an entrance to the building and an air conditioning unit.

Ricky moved to the side of the building and stared at the clocktower for a moment. He then sat down on the edge and opened his bag. At the top were the last things he bought. A bottle of water, a bag of chips, some candy, and a sandwich.

As he sat he looked around and watched. The first thing he noticed was the detectives were still sitting in their car down below. They were looking around, probably trying to find him. He chuckled as he started eating while watching the clock tower and the lower library around it.

He waited several hours as the sky turned dark and the city really woke up. At some point the detectives figured it out and were watching him from down the street. As the time was nearing midnight he saw it.

A shadowy figure moved out from the roof of the clocktower. While down below a motorcycle went flying out of a garage that barely opened. On the motorcycle was an occupant. While one went along the rooftops the other moved quickly through the streets.

Ricky pulled out his phone and called the person he humorously named Spaghetti Man. After a moment they answered on the other end. "Two people just left the building. One by air, the other by motorcycle. Too dark to see who they were."

"Got it, we just started in on Penguin's casinos. They are probably coming after us. Do me a favor and lead your cop buddies away from that location. You have ten minutes." Red Hood then hung up the call.

Ricky stood up with a grunt and moved to the fire escape quickly climbing down. Once he was back in the alley he walked out into the street and then went straight toward the detectives.

He glanced around as he walked across the street he then stopped by the passenger side of the car the detectives were in. He knocked on the window and Detective Montoya rolled down the window.

"How long did you know?" She asked.

Ricky pulled out guns and offered them to her. "The whole time." Ricky answered. "You mind giving me a lift back to my place. Or am I just going to walk and you follow me?"

Montoya took the guns and then held out her hand. Ricky pulled out the bullets and magazines, placing them in her hand. "We can give you a lift." She answered and he heard the door unlock.

Ricky climbed into the back of the car. Once the door was closed the old man grunted and began driving. "I am surprised you had the time to follow me all day. Don't you detectives have something better to do?"

"We usually do." The man had a heavy accent, one that clearly labeled him from Gotham. "But Miss Twinkle Toes was convinced you knew more than you were letting on." Detective Montoya glared at the man.

He started driving away toward Ricky's gym. "While we were waiting I had someone look into the other's story again. They are continuing to say nothing about you for some reason."

"Anyone ever saved your life, detective?" Ricky asked as he leaned back in his seat and watched the world move by through the window.

He could feel her stare at him through the rearview mirror. "A few times."

"You feel indebted to them?" Ricky asked in turn. She went quiet and did not ask any questions for a bit.

"Hey, whatever happened to searching for work?" The man asked as he glanced at him through the rearview mirror.

"I got work while I was eating breakfast. Then I did my work and now you two are driving me home after I finish." Ricky answered with a chuckle.

The man looked at him through the rearview mirror while Detective Montoya leaned over the side of the seat to look at him. "You went shopping and then watched a building for several hours. How does that work?"

Ricky shrugged, "it paid. Don't really care why they wanted me to do something so mundane either."

There was silence for the next several minutes before they arrived at his place. He climbed out of the car just in time to hear an explosion. It came from the direction they just came from.

Ricky ignored it and walked up to his door as the car pulled a u-turn and sped away. His phone rang as he opened the door and then locked it behind him. He answered his phone. "This is Ricardo."

"Rico, good job today. You made the best of a bad situation. Now I have a favor, get rest tomorrow. When the next night comes you are going to be doing actual footwork. I need someone to break into one of the GCPD's precincts. Pull it off and you will get an even bigger payday. Now check your account." Red Hood hung up and he received a text with a date, time, and location for tomorrow.

Ricky opened his bank account on his phone. Finding that his account had been transferred one thousand dollars for services rendered. He walked into the gym and changed into his workout outfit.

He completed his daily task and then finished cleaning up the upstairs office area. He moved the bed and several other things he had lying around up to his temporary room. Once he was done he decided to use one of his raffle tickets.

[Rolling… Item… Black Jacket(Kevlar weave with hoodie).]
