Chapter 6: An Ally She Could Trust

Lillian was sure it was easy for them to track her location. Thus, wearing clothes she had worn in the past, was like exposing herself and willingly getting caught.

Thankfully, Lillian often bought clothes as souvenirs on her travels, so she had a lot of them in stock.

She chose the cheapest and normal-looking ones so she would not stand out. She only prepared two pairs of elegant-looking ones just in case she needed them.

Of course, she also had to change her appearance slightly or greatly. There was a lot she needed to do and pack so she could disguise herself.

For the things she needed to buy, she could get them from the nearest shops.

Thankfully, she had enough cash she had placed in a safe in her room which she could use for her expenses.

She did not want to touch any of her cards for now.

There's a privacy act that protects location and all that but there are hooligans out there who mine, track, and sell it. She had heard of them from online groups and even in some news.

As for her cards used in her businesses that were entrusted to her business managers, it should be fine if they kept performing their work as usual and not know anything about what's going on.

Telling them something about this might put them to danger instead of protect them. Thus, Lillian concluded it was best to move alone without involving anyone else.

If she told them about this, they might even laugh behind her back or advise her to visit a psychiatric clinic out of worry.

No one would believe her.

They might think she was having delusional tendencies for her to make up stories about dating a multibillionaire when they had been with her for years and never saw her with a boyfriend.

Thus, Lillian's lips were zipped about this.

She did contact her business managers and informed them that she would be traveling for a while. Thus, they had to take care of the company as usual and send their reports as usual.

Except, they were not allowed to call her and they should not expect a call from her either. She would only respond via mail once she had the time.

Lillian reasoned that she would be too busy and thus, in case of problems, they had to solve it themselves in the best way they could and send her a detailed report of what happened.

After all, it could take several days or even weeks for the matter about her husband to be settled.

Lillian was not sure when she could access her emails again, but it was better than not being in contact with her managers at all. She entrusted checking her businesses to her personal assistant.

Thankfully, she had hired reliable people. Her personal secretary and assistant, named Rei Liu, was a very reliable person.

Rei was half Chinese and half Japanese. Lillian met her several years ago and hired her. Rei had shown a strong work ethic and proved to be extremely capable, so Lillian never let go of her.

"It seems you will not be around for more than a month this time. If I recall correctly, this would be the first time. Right, Ms. Lillian?" Rei verified.

"Yes. I have things I need to do after I go on tour, so it might be more than a month, before I can come back or contact you," Lillian explained.

"I understand. I will do my best to take care of your business while you are away."

"Thank you, Rei-chan. I'm really glad, I met you that day. If not for you, I can't have a leave for such a long time like this."

Lillian could be rest assured with Rei taking care of everything for her.

"It is I, who is most grateful, Ms. Lillian. I feel honored that you trust me so much," Rei replied, and Lillian almost laughed at how the latter sounded like a butler from generations ago.

Lillian could already imagine Rei being a butler as she said those words. Especially since Rei did almost always dress up like a male secretary or butler even if she's actually woman too.

Rei had a habit to speak formally and respectfully. It was perfect when they were with other executives but too much when it was just them talking.

After they got close, Lillian asked Rei to speak to her informally and just call her by name when it's just the two of them, but Rei spoke with her formally most of the time.

It took some time, but Rei had finally managed to call her Ms. Lillian now instead of Ms. Wang.

"Please stay safe on your travels, Ms. Lillian."

"Yes, of course. But you do know what to do with my assets if something happens to me, right?"

Lillian wanted to be sure that her assets would be properly dealt with in case she suddenly died on her trips, so she had already contacted lawyers before and had authorized Rei to take care of it.

"By any chance, you're not going somewhere dangerous, right?" Rei sounded anxious.

"You worry too much. I'm not going to a war-torn country or anything."

But Lillian could not deny that she might be in danger.

She knew Rei had become attached to her after years of working for her, so she understood her worries. Rei was now dear to her as well.

"Ms. Lillian, if you are going somewhere dangerous, please take me with you. I can work as your personal guard. I have the ability. I will protect you with my life," Rei changed her stance when she noticed Lillian may be in danger.

"Calm down, Rei-chan. What would I do if I didn't have you to take care of everything?"

Lillian was puzzled at Rei's sudden panic.

Rei was usually calm and calculated. This was the first time she sounded so alarmed that she even volunteered to go with her.
